It's a bit of a sticky one this.

Each xmas we plan the list of ingredients (food and drink) and plan to stash them away unti xmas eve, which is when we start the piggery (the evening meal is the start, we do the meat and pickles and cheese thing).

The problem is that we're left with too much by the end of boxing day, and continuing to pig after then doesn't feel right (xmas is done and dusted at that point).

So, should we start earlier? Like now? Not too overboard of course, otherwise the core xmas piggery will suffer. If we do start now, to what should we restrict ourselves (if anything)? Obviously the turkey is sacrosanct, as is the xmas pud.

Any suggestions/techniques/tactics/strategy?

Do away with the non meat stuff , and have a meat only xmas , I'm not sure what you eat but for example, burgers,

sack bread , have a burger made with 4 burgers! ,

be creative! , ie instead of carrots have sausages,

instead of sprouts have meat balls,

instead of an xmas cake/pudding have a solid round of beef.

EDIT yes I know meat is more satisfying than veg, but thats just psychological. Though I am in no way responsible if the Hetz family are found dead from meat poisoning.

I keep trying to explain this to the rents. Every crimbo mum promises not to buy too much crap, then comes home with 500 packs of mixed nuts, bombay mix and fuck knows what else.

All i want, love and look forward to at christmas is one day trying to eat my body weight in honey roast ham. Fuck the rest of it.

Honestly couldnt give a shit about parsnips, nuts, coleslaw, turkey, gravy, pigs in blankets or ANYTHING ELSE.

But you know once the hams gone and the boredom sets in...

I dont want to roll back to uni again Crying or Very sad

I would suggest letting xmas and new year become one big festival. That way you get a whole weeks' piggery without respite by which time you'll be craving summat healthy and some fresh air. Also nought but your stretchyest clothes will fit by then and you'll be forced to stop or become naturists.
