hey im not sure if you people have already read the last thread that i made about this but i have now taken instruction and moved it to here from the General forum.
Now i have found a route and worked out distance (STRAIGHT LINES) but have yet to make full accurate distances but anyway hear goes:
Start
Day 1 Grimsby - Callis 225miles
Day 2 Callis - Brest 350miles
Day 3 Brest - San sebastian 350miles
Day 4 San Sabastian - Barcelona 225miles
Day 5 Barcelona - millau 175miles
Day 6 Millay - Genova 275miles
Day 7 Genova - Roma 225miles
Day 8 Roma - Milano 275miles
Day 9 Milano - stutgart 225miles
Day 10 Stutgart to burgen 275 miles
Day 11 Burgen to Amsterdam 175miles
Day 12 Amsterdam - Hull(Grimsby) 250miles
finito Total - 3025 miles
i know that this seems alot of miles to do in such a short amount of time but i have also given myself 2 days for f**k ups which are bound to happend and also a different route may be used like missing out Brest and San Sabastian.

If you haven't got Autoroute, try using Google or Yahoo maps to plot the routes.

You just enter the start and finish points and they'll calculate a route which you can then drag to follow your preferred roads, (i.e. scenic roads, not motorways) and give you accurate mileages.

You'll find that the actual mileages are probably 50% longer than the stright line mileages.

That looks like a heavy and fairly pointless itinerary to me. What's the point in going to Rome if you're just overnighting there and then heading back up to Milan?

Your route

It comes to a total of 3712 miles (And I didn't know what you meant by 'Burgen' - So I did it to where you suggested: A town near the River Mosel)

Thats ALOT of miles to be doing each day without ever stopping anywhere for a rest. You want to be able to enjoy the ride, meet the people, see the sights and sample everything that you'd expect to do on holiday!

Looking at the above route, it comes out at 3712 miles and 61 hours. When you click on "avoid highways" as you'd surely want to do, this changes to 3794 miles but 113 hours....

Over your 11 days this equates to ~10 hours riding per day. What about stops etc?

I think this is a massive amount of riding; not impossible, but you won't have nearly as much fun if you spend the whole time pushing to get to your next destination.

If I were you I'd miss out the trip to Rome unless you have definite plans there. Similarly, a large chunk of the west coast of France for me is pretty boring, so I have used sections of motorway here in the past.

Are you going to Brest for a reason? Without it you'd save lots of miles/hours.
I think I'd also miss this out and use the time for the pyrennees and northern italy/switzerland. This is where I've found more interesting roards where you'll want to spend more time.

12 days and a lot of Europe? Does sound very pointless unless you're going out JUST to ride.

If there's a few of you, I think you'll definately wanna have fun in the towns along the way and you won't be up for doing over 200 miles each day, you'll be buggered!

Last year I spent 2 weeks going around just france, and that was just about the right amount of time.
What's the point of going all that way if you're not going to have time to do anything apart from flop out on the hotel bed completely knackered?

What i meant by Roma and these places is they are the capital cities but i am trying to work out the route now and instead of Brest and San Sabastian i think i will go through paris and use one of the spare days i have and spend it there. There reason for Burgen is and i do apologise in advance if there is any offense cause by this but i want to see Belsen i was thinking about Auschwitz but that is in Poland and is obvioulsy well out of reach, the point of the Ride as i see it is to check out europe for 2 weeks and then do it again next year but cut it down and concentrate on the better parts of the places we see. And take it easy i have never toured before and neither has my brother so it should be a good time with loads of new experiences.
I am currently looking into:
Calais to paris to Barcelona which is 570miles opposed to 925 but still in the same time frame so it will be about 200miles a day instead of 2 stints of 350 and then one of 225 and it will cut about 345miles off.
and please may i state that the route is still in its early stages of planning here
