Got to go to The Crown court in a few weeks to give evidence about when the house was broke in to, so whats it going to be like ? How many people will there be there ?
I'm fucking shiting my self about going, think there is going to be loads of people there , I hate that sort of thing. Sad
Whats the best thing to do before hand ? Anything I should do which will made it a bit "easier"

Have a right hand shandy before you go that will kill your nerves... and just imagine everyone there is naked (only works when surrounded by ugly people).

Make sure u go to the toilet before hand also, from what I've heard they can be quite lengthy depending on the circumstances.

Thumbs Up

Yes as said in another post when you go to court say a magestrates court you are asked if you think that the magestrates court is good enough for you , a large proportion say yes.

Namely as magestrates courts have much lower powers of sentencing.

Give me 2 mins to edit out the crime reference number and ill post a picture of the letters we have.

Don't really care, but it should have gone through the Magistrates courts first?

Quote:
The Crown Court deals with more serious criminal cases such as murder, rape or robbery, some of which are on appeal or referred from Magistrates' courts.

Trials are heard by a Judge and a 12 person jury. Members of the public are selected for jury service or may have to go to court as witnesses.

The Crown Court is based at 78 centres across England and Wales.

It deals with cases transferred from the Magistrates' Courts. It also hears appeals against decisions of Magistrate's Courts, and deals with cases sent for sentence from Magistrates' Courts.

A robbery by a plonker does not constitute the escalation of court?

Aggravated Burgulary.

ie, it wasn't spur of the moment or a chance robbery. It was obviously pre meditated.

Rationale for Crown Court?

You state that you know the person that did it and obviously charges have been made against them when making a statement, so why could the Magistrates not make a decision?

For what its worth, you will be expected to answer questions based on your statement and only your statement. Do not look / talk to the barrister asking the question, you are supposed to be giving evidence to the jury not them so address the jury accordingly.

Does that carry a greater or lesser punishment ?
Also will we get a free solicitor or something ? Because I at least want some one near me that I can ask questions to if I'm unsure I should/ shouldn't say something.

It carries a greater sentence.
No you wont get a solicitor. You're the victim. I'm afraid in this country the victim recieves little or no help. You can get victims support which basically means someone will give you a bit of counselling. Crying or Very sad

Often in burglary cases the accused gets a choice which court to go to. In a crown court, they have more of a chance of getting off but a heavier sentence if found guilty. In a magistrates court, you are more likely to be found guilty but the consequences are by far less.
