Just got my bill from BT, just over £36. That includes the £4.50 they charge you for making payment by any means other than direct debit.

Last quarter my bill was around £70.

What happened was I was quite happy to have BT handle my calls and stuff. Then they decided to charge me £4.50 each quarter because I wouldn't give them unfettered access to my bank account, so I took my calls elsewhere (Nildram).

There you go BT, gained £4.50 a quarter by charging me to pay your bill, lost around £35 a quarter in call charges.

Ooh, it's so sweet I can almost taste the juice. Laughing

We were paying around £35-£45 per quarter in call charges with BT. With Nildram we pay only for international (don't make any) and mobile calls (very few).

I'm going to send BT an email, the juice tastes so good. Laughing

BT sucks balls.

Our phone line has been down since last Thursday, it took them till yesterday to accept that it was in fact down. My flatmate spent 5 hours on the phone yesterday alone (not to mention every day since Thursday) just getting to that point.

If ever a company was capable of such awesome fuckwittery, it is BT.

I always wait till the red one now. used to pay direct debit until exbitch fucked the account. now pay cash at the counter. sometimes I get cut off by landline phone when i don't get chance to go the bank but they never touch the internet or internet phone. so not always that bothered. They are arseheads sometimes. Got one of the engineers who lives a few doors down from me who is one of the biggest knock off merchants going. Once he came into my place of work to fit some new phones. Ended up having to kick him out for sexually harrassing the young women working there. Lives in his nice redrow house but all his stuff is knock off.

To be frank, charging for non direct debit makes sense.

If you pay by bill, the phone company (or any utility for that matter) has overheads like, the paper used for your bills, the ink used to print your bills, the postage paid to send your bill and the added inconvience of having to wait for payment.

I don't think any major company is likely to "fettle" with a bank account as it would be pretty damn obvious. Laughing

Because BT own the lines thats why.Still have to pay them at the end of the day for crap service. My line still not sorted I give up now. And signed contracts that are hard to get out of. Who else is there here Jamie? Apart form them code things you have to dial that claim all sorts of cheap calls.

Their overheads are calculated in their charges. Then they whack another fat percentage on top just to be on the safe side.

And, in BT's case, they start charging seperately for the overheads they're already covering in their existing charges.

Bit like the govt, paying for the roads with vehicle tax...then gasoline tax...then parking and speeding tickets...then bogus penalties from the DVLA. And then not spending most of it on the roads anyway, as there are far more important things to do with our money like larging it up on the world stage by giving it as 'foreign aid' to tin-pot murdering dictators in third-world shitholes.

Where's my fvcking video camera! Laughing

UTV, Talk Talk, Sky, Tiscali to name a few. You still have to pay line rental from BT on the mainland too.

Ahem the contract! the one you sign with BT I sign mine for 18 months I think. So i cant really go anywhere unless i fancy paying up. That answer your quarry? I am aware there are other broadband providers its unfortunate we still have to pay BT for bad service either way.

I was listing them as landline providers, As I thought that was what you asked for. If you signed a contract then I think you're stuck with them.

Our line went down on Thursday of last week, turns out it was deactivated by BT 'in error.' Its all in my flatmates name (not concerned about that, he's a consumate complainer. He's really very good at it. Thumbs Up )

They told him yesterday that it wouldn't be reactivated until next Thursday. So, 2 weeks without a telephone line or internet connection. Seriously unhappy about it, I never use the phone but the internet is important.

No apology or admission of fault. Just some Indian guy braying down the phone... Virgin media is just as bad, but I'd rather go with them than BT who are a shower of seriously expert fuckwits. They know they have a monopoly so they just don't care. Rolling Eyes

Pa-Broon my internet was down for 1 day once and I chewed them on the phone and was refunded a whole week for that. Just have to argue thats all. Also got 4 refunds for being charged stupid things and being conned. Only my line has been fecked since June now and all it does is hang up when calling someone not even bothering to connect before dead tone and disconnecting the net and i am sick of telling them. So I give up asking for it to be fixed. They are fvckwits the whole lot of them.
