anyone own(ed) a KTM LC4? - NOW PURCHASED!

I quite fancy one. Seen an "06" 625 SMC (twin pipes with old style front light) locally but only ever had sports bikes.
what are they like? are they reliable? tell me about it please!

Haven't rid them, but looked into them a bit. Have got the later 690 LC4.

The earlier versions are known to be a bit vibey and have 5 gears.
The SMC is the version (or enduro, but don't think that was a UK model) to go for - the others are a bit heavy.
The 625 version keeps the electric start, while the 660 is a bit more 'hardcore' with kickstart only.

1500 mile service intervals on earlier models, but that got moved up to 3000 at some point I believe.
Moderately reliable; they aren't in a that high state of tune really, but not quite up to big-single jap standards generally.

It'll be a fun bike for getting around town and country B roads; not great for getting from A to B or on wider A roads.

I rode the 660 a fair bit. Nice power delivery, good looks and good handling. Shakes like a bugger though. Expect to loose all feeling in your hands the first few times you go for a long ride. Make sure you get something with an electric start

If that's a Maxxis on the front; be cautious; the one I had sucked. Possibly even more than the Avon which is the other option ... really must stick a supercorsa on at least one set of SM rims.

I am kinda wanting to sell my R1 and get a supermoto! A to save my licence from 3 figures, and B so I can practice wheeelies and not be too scared of stacking it.

What are the service intervals like etc?

EddyJones: service every 3k miles including valve clearance everytime but its recomended that oils changed every 1k as it holds about 1.5l.

Reevo: 3 grand. I also starting looking into SMs as my licence felt threatened on the gix!

g: no, its an Avon PXR front and Avon Distanzia Supermoto specific rear. seem ok for the 5 miles ive done on it!

frosty: i still havent wheelied it! i wasnt insured last night and never ridden this style of bike so i took a cautious approach. Im sure it wont be long... like tonight or something
