Cmon then who's had it?

Went out to college thismorning to find my petrol tank BONE DRY. After looking around in desperation I decide to try and syphon petrol from the bigger 'Blade. MISTAKE. Went ok the first bit, had to give it a bit of a suck again, went a bit too far, petrol in the mouth Sick . Luckily for me I never swallowed any, only a small amount (if any) went in my mouth. Still the most unpleasant feeling ever. Reminds me of that time I spilled some on my old chap Laughing

What stories has everyone else got?

- And dont worry I'll phone the ambulance if my lungs start burning or I start vomiting profusely.

y7ou don't have to suck at all to syphon fuel out, as long as you use a nice long hose.

coil the hose into the source tank as much as you can, so you've only a small amount poking out the cap.

Plug the end, and slowly draw the hose out, bringing the plugged end lower than the tank as soon as is practical.

UNplug and pour.

job done, no nastiness

Managed to do it twice. Bleugh. Only had a really short length of pipe. Thats ^ a useful tip though, I'll remember that one!

i managed to empty my tank with out it touching my mouth, the first time Sad
if you use a clear hose you can see where the petrol is,
when its near the end put your finger over it and emtpy it into the container.

Back when I was working on the CBR the first time I had the tank on my lap, trying to take the old tank protector off, little did I know I had brushed the tap with my leg and the petrol was soaking through my jeans and boxers Neutral At first it just felt really cold. Then the stinging set in. Que me running upstairs tearing clothes off and emergency cock shower Thumbs Up

Trust me, getting it in your mouth is pleasant in comparison

I've had a mouthful of petrol on a couple of occasions. Once was seeing if the vacuum advance worked on my car (by sucking on the pipe which unbeknown to me was full of petrol).

The other time I got a mouthful of nice 1999 vintage petrol/2stroke mix trying to syphon the fuel out of a Jawa. Might even have been 4 star due to the age!

Me and another guy ran away from Borstal one time, and were syphoning gas from one car to put in another we'd nicked and I got a mouthful, up my nose and in my eyes. I'd had my head upside down because the pipe wasn't long enough to have far enough down and bend it back up again. If you know what I mean. Mr. Green

From what I can remember it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Not as bad as battery acid in the eye though.

Kerosene is yummy, only had to siphon stuff once.

Petrol stories, hmm. On a scooter I had the petrol tank was directly under the seat and the seat needed to come off one day. While it was off decided to go for a little spin sitting on the tank for a laugh, turns out the seat screwed directly into the tank and these holes would let petrol out, just enough to soak my crotch and burn the fuck out of my meat and 2 veg. Just glad I didn't decide to have a smoke before I noticed.

Lol, I've done exactly the same - the stuff tastes unbeliveably foul! Needless to say one attempt was all I gave it.

When I was a kid I used to syphon it from my dad's car for my XL125 when he was in work (using his van). I've swallowed it a few times. I always ended up burping it for hours.

Fork oil is the worst, I was working on an old GT550 if I recall, it has pressurised forks. I forgot about this little fact and undid the drain screw while being rather close to it. SQUIRRRT all over me and everything in the vicinity including my mouth. It was awful.

Wurth Brake Cleaner in the eye stings a little too but that's not the same as tasting it. Thumbs Up

PS. Fair play feef that's a good idea.

I've had the petrol burps for a few hours after, when swallowing a bit too much a few times.

So I made myself a little 'syphon' bottle;
Get an old washing up liquid bottle, clean. Make a hole in the top near the lid bit. Attach hose to lid bit.
Put hose in petrol, squeeze bottle with hole uncovered, then cover hole and it sucks petrol back through. You can then take the lid off if you need it in a bigger container.
Or that's how your supposed to do it - my mate I gave it to just sucked on the hole in the bottle!

If you've got easy access to fuel hoses, it's often easier to just unplug one from the non-tank end and poke that into a suitable receptacle.

These days I've got a 'proper' syphon, which you can get for a few quid off ebay to empty tanks after a race to see how much fuel I've used.

Oh and the dodgy fuel cap on the BMW I had used to cover my crotch in light smattering of petrol when I did wheelies.
