I can only do them in the wet, once the tarmac is slippy, i can do it starting in 3rd gear now!! its all good fun!!
I actually find it easyier to do a rolling burn out in the wet to do a normal burnout...

My front tyre was too shitty to do them in the wet on the NSR Sad

I have been starting rolling burnouts while moving by letting the clutch out with loads of power on and the front bake controlling the speed. My flate mate suggested strating them from a standstill then going... which is actually a lot easier and save on clutch wear Smile

I've not tried on the dry, if i try and do the same in the dry as i do in the wet i find the front wheel becomes very light and either lifts a bit or just acclerates very quickly...

lol .... well, that'd be why the front wheel goes light etc Smile
As I said it's pretty easy to do a standing burnout then start moving.

IF you start a stationary burn out (standing over the bike with feet on the floor) then slowly release the front brake so you start to move forward slowly, sit on the bike gently and release the brake a little more to carry on.

I do the rolling burnout with out the front brake becasue its in the wet,
Its really easy to do can do them as high as 3rd gear, but theres lotsa slip and lotsa smoke, its harder to control the higher the gear as the rear wheel spins a fair bit quicker...

I can rolling in the wet on mine, but not in the dry. It doesnt have enough power i dont think to do it in the dry.

Burnouts stationary are soooo easy luke. Front brake on, both feet on the ground, and rev to about 8,000-9,000 and *gently* let the clutch out. Will start to spin Cool

They definatley have enough power to do them in the dry (though the tyres might be more to do with it). My NSR maxes out at 85ish witha downhill.
I just sit on the tank (actually sit on it, feet hanging down!) and slowly release the clutch at high rpm while progressivly breaking harder.
However the method described below... starting a 'normal' standing one then moving off... should work fine on the NSR, just make sure you put your weight over the front.

Doesnt fuck your tyre. Dont do it on gravel, or on rough surface, cos it *could* cut or damage the tyre.

Just experiment. It doesnt fuck your tyre. I dont do them much, as I prefer my tyres to grip with Very Happy If you can get it to spin at all, making it go fast, or into a massive smokey burnout is easy, just more revs, or change gear Twisted Evil

Err... it *does* fuck your tyre Confused
Okay, maybe not as much on the NSR as the zx6r that redlines at 65 in 1st, but it's still going to square them off a bit more. Okay... so does normal road riding, but this'll probably take a few miles off per burnout (that smokes gotta come from somewhere Smile )
However it doesn't really fuck then enougth to be bothered about it unless you are doing them everyday (/me looks at zimm Smile )
