Wait for the letter. Did he give you anything at the time, he could have just been trying to shit you up.

Wait until something comes through.

You could just have said it was a new bike and you weren't used to the power. Laughing

6 innit?

Although, if you were mid-wheelie and they told you to pull over, and you didn't put it down UNTIL you had stopped at the side of the road, you get a few more. Laughing

Well, as you haven't harmed anyone probably a couple of years.

Did he give you a verbal NIP?

Dangerous driving

Imprisonment > 2 years
Fine >Unlimited
Disqualification > Obligatory
Penalty point > 3-11 (if exceptionally not disqualified)

Or maybe

Failure to have proper control of vehicle or full view of the road and traffic ahead, or using a hand-held mobile phone while driving

Fine > £1,000 (£2,500 for PCV or goods vehicle)
Disqualification > Discretionary
Penalty point > 3

Source

Did you get cautioned at the time ? As i think they may need to do that. Neutral

Dangerous Driving is a 'crown' offence and will be tried in a 'proper' court, with a judge/jury and the like.

This has some interesting avenues as the police/CPS not only have to convince someone that works for the courts who deals with 'scum' everyday, but 12 members of the public too.

If they got a verbal NIP, they could have a long wait. They need to bring the case in 6 months. I know in Scotland if you haven't been before a court before the 6 month date, that's it. In England they have more leeway to fudge the issue so even after 6 months, you might still get a summons to appear.

Two of them doing it next to one another would make for an interesting piece of video evidence to lay before a jury and demands one consider the even juicier charge of "Motor racing on a Highway" (MS50) which carries 3-11 points

Because it's a crown offence, it's actually 7 years Neutral.

Do they not have to lay a charge (dunno if that's the correct term) before the court within a shorter timescale though?

Not that I'm aware.

I received a verbal nip for Dangerous Driving some time ago and basically if it's in front of a 'proper' court, they've got 7 years. Presumably that's more to account for things a bit further up the scale where evidence may come to light later, etc.

I never got a court date, so I looked into it a fair bit.
I suspect after a reasonable amount of time it's going to be hard for them to do much for this sort of case (or so I'm hoping as I've got a few years left Confused).

whats the going rate of punishment, for riding past cones when police are blocking off the road due to a serious accident ?

traffic was slow moving, i was slow moving, no harm to anyone, just disobeying the fairly obvious directions as i didnt want to take the detour

one policewoman told me off and suggested i wd lose my license. i think this is unlikely, but im not really sure.

I make that a TS40 "Failing to comply with direction of a constable or traffic warden." 3 points.

I know someone on another forum who recently got

2 year supervision order
2 year ban with extended retest (car & bike)
£500 fine
£350 costs

his crime = doing a wheelie for a 1/3 of a mile at 115 mph in a 60mph limit
