Hi all.
i bought some of the adjustable oxford heated grips at the bike show and they didnt come with any glue. i've spoke to infinity about it and they are trying to sort it for me. but still nothing yet. i'ld like the glue my thursday really so i can sort my grips out and keep my hands warm.

does anyone have some spare glue i could have/buy to save me waiting for infinity to sort it?
i only need enough to fix the throttle grip cos the left grip is held in place by the bar end anyway.

thanks
calum

oh right.
that will work ok then? i wasnt sure if it would affect the rubber in any way or if it would crack/break from heating up and cooling down a lot.

on another thing - does anyone know how much it is to buy? could phone the bike shop tomorrow - just wondering about a rough price?

The Oxford grips come with generic super glue anyway.

I bought some Oxford grips and in the box was a cheapo tube of superglue. It costs about 90p from Asda.

Thumbs Up

I would NOT recommend using super glue.

I used specific Honda grip glue when I fitted mine. This is because it is special glue that you can 'unstick' by spraying isopropyl alchohol on it allowing you to remove or alter the position of the grips without damage and as soon as the alcohol evaporates it sticks again.

I'm sure that most people on here are now shouting 'BOLLOCKS' at their monitor, but when I fit grips that cost £230 (Honda's own) I'm not going to take risks with them.

Oh, it costs just under a fiver a tube which is really silly money, but if you PM me your name & address I'll post what's left to you as I don't expect to be fitting anymore grips for a while! Laughing

You can get isopropyl alchohol from Maplins for a couple of quid.

You paid £230 for heated grips which has 3 settings?

What makes them better than the oxford ones?

If they cost £230 I'd use the right glue jesus!

Because they are specific for my wing (connections, fittings etc.), and when I come to sell, the people who will buy it won't expect Oxford grips to be fitted to a £16000 bike, fussy buggers that they are Razz

And you're right, they are no better than the Oxford ones, but they have Honda on them.

Everything I tried - the glue that came with the oxford grips, superglue, no nails, even hairspray (I got that tip off here, but it didn't do the trick by any stretch of the imagination) all came unstuck, mostly after the grips had been on and the glue heated up, sometimes by me just whacking the throttle to the stop. IN the end I chopped the wires to the throttle grip because it came unstuck too often and made it dangerous to ride with. Oh, and I whack the throttle open a pit gentler now. I've always been a bit ham fisted, mind Rolling Eyes
