Posted: 23:26 - 13 Dec 2007 Post subject: Advice on riding in cold conditions. |
 |
|
Hi All
I'm due to pick up my new bike this weekend I bought off Ebay. Anyway the bike is 150 miles away. It has heated grips so that should help but to be honest I don't know if I can manage to ride for that many miles in the weather we have at the moment. Any advice? |

I did two hunded miles yesterday, M6-M1 the cold was a killer, I had two tshirts, leathers, waterproofs over the top, feet where fine in hein gerickes, head got quite cold even with a buff wrapped around, hands were the worst in half size summer gloves.
Wrap your hands up well and when they get cold stop at services and let em warm up naturally,10 mins smoking a rollie and they'll feel fine.
edit* Actually no, dont do it. 300 in one go isnt worth it, I was well pis88ed off after the first half hour on the mway.

Well I would say longjohns with termal top
I do on cold days and they look mighty sexy too
But, ahem just traveling 50 miles at night I had 2 coats, leather jacket plus a fleece over the top and a bag - I looked stupid and I still got cold.
Can you some what 'duck' down a bit on the bike? It kept the cold chill off my chest for a bit of time.
Past 2 years of winter riding ive had to worse chest pain/cough the lot |
