heres ANOTHER guy enquiring about my bike for sale on www.preloved.con... i swear some people are taking the piss.

heres the advert...

Quote:
GSXR 400 - £xxx ono
GSXR400 GK71b, original 1984 first edition GSXR, streetfightered, 11 months tax and MOT, renthals, YZF grips, turns a lot of heads, only downfall is the engine... slight oil leak, and a blowing exhaust. a really worthwhile bike, extremely rare, chances are you've never seen one on the road.

he says:
Quote:
Message: hi u still selling ur bike

so i say:
Quote:
hi, yes i am...
are you interested?
cheers,
matt

at which point im hoping hes not an idiot...
then i get this...

Quote:
is it a 125cc?i know it says GSXR 400 but is it a 125?

now... if its someone on here trying to be funny, make yourself known and hang your head in shame, if not...
LOL at this kid... possible replies to come, stay tuned sports fans!

BTW, he got this as a reply...

Quote:
hi, its a 400cc, hence the whole gsxr '400' bit. well 398cc to be exact... lets be honest now, it doesnt really look like a 125 does it =D... im after the price stated in the advert.
i wouldnt listen to your mate, im guessing he told you something like it can be restricted to 125cc?? its lies =D
let me know if your still interested.

this kid is a full on knob... more replies.

Quote:
Just talk to a mate so if it is 125 great if not i still buy how much you want for it?

then he also must have just read my last above reply...
and sent this.
Quote:
can't be restricted to 125cc? if not i can have it sorry but i'm 17 and only got a cbt so 125cc is the max i can have

so he got this back
Quote:
there is no bike you can get that can be restricted to 125cc... 125cc is the size/bore of the cylinder barrel. if you did want to convert a gsxr400 to a 125 it would cost you about £100,000 as you would need an inline 4 cylinder and head custom made, with 4 custom made 30cc pistons, and conrods and crankshaft... and carb's.

seriously, learn something about bikes before you go out buying them. you must be such an easy target for bike mechanics =D

cheers,

matt

That said. Buell sell a bike restricted to 500cc from 1000cc.

Seriously. It's a 1000cc v-twin motor with one of the barrels removed and the crankcase blanked off where it used to be.

It's called a 'Buell Blast'.

*prods glasses at bridge of nose*

I think you'll find that the pistons do not have a volume - and that what you acutally meant to say was 'four cylinders and pistons, which, in conjunction with the crankshaft profile result in a swept area per cylinder of 31cc'

Yes, and it shakes intself to death and is possibly the most unreliable bike in recent history.

No there is a common misconception that you can ride a 33bhp bike on L plates. This is incorrect. The 'buyer' doesn't say he wants a 33bhp bike, he wants a 125. He also says he has a CBT and L plates, which means a 125. It doesn't mean 33bhp. You tit. Wink

I didn't say they were any good. I was just mentioning the fact that they exist.

I wouldn't like a bike fitted with an entrie Harley engine, let alone half of one.

it just pisses me off... ive been trying to sell this bike for ages, and ive had another person trying to buy it who wanted to ride it 2oo miles home with no licence, someones gotta be taking the piss!

im relatively new to bikes... ive only taken an intrest to mechanics in the last year or so, and i think ive learned lots, theres no point i was ever as mechanically retarded as this kid though.

he sounds like one of these people who just wants to brag to his mates like 'guess what buys, ive got a fokin gsxr 400 restricted to a 125...

IMO

just so you cant pull my pants down for that. nazis

While the Revolution might be the only modern engine in the Harley-Davidson lineup, and despised by some because it is watercooled, the typical pushvalve HD engine is reliable, reasonably economic, tuneable, and the noise is interesting (defeaning with Vance and Hines pipes Cool , if not necessarily that nice, to my ears.

There are some people who laugh at the learner asking naive/stupid questions. I hate that. Surely saying that he would not be licenced to ride the vehicle would be enough. I myself would worry more about the money. It is up to the person themselves to decide whether or not to obey the law and act foolishly.

i would of sold him it,

wrote a reciept with dates and TIME, got him to sign, sold as seen!!

took the cash and watched him ride down the drive and fall off while i walked back inside counting the cash.

its not your responsibility to ensure that they have a license/insurance!

Isnt there a charge now of something like "Allowing someone to ride a vehicle registered to you without insurance" ?

Im sure at the point of transaction, he would be the legal owner, but you would be the registered keeper.

ha, the bloke wanting to buy it may have been some council house turd, could have been a decent bloke, you never know...
id NEVER sell it from my house though, id consider some people on here trustworthy just because of the way they come across, but the bloke was DODGY as fuck. it'd be like 'thanks for the bike, ill be back with my van to pick up the other 4 later'.
plus, i didnt want anyone to die because of my mechanical skills Very Happy

It's hardly being harsh to the kid. Anyone who emails about buying a bike without doing ANY research first into what he can and cant ride deserves to learn their lesson in my opinion. I'm pretty new to bikes and dont have any bike license at all yet, but I still bothered to read up on the legalities before diving in!
