Just a few questions to pickle your brains...
Im looking for a set of tyres for track use, supercorsa's or the like...
but what i need know is what size tyre can I fit
- the standard front tyre is 120/60/17, what implications would there be if i used a 120/70, this seems to be a more common size, besides clearence issues, will this fit etc?
-the standard rear is 160/60/17, these arent too much of a problem as iv found quite a few but there's also quite a few 165/60 or even 170s, would i be better sticking to the standard size for track or would these be ok, is this recommended?
another thing is some race tyres, specifically wets dont come in the normal size format, does anyone know/recommend a good wet tyre to fit a 4.5" rim?
(and if anyone has any part worns for sale... )
Thanks in advance
(P.S. if u dont know or have any real knowledge of this please dont post for sake of it, thanks) ____________________ CBR600RR3, KR-1S, Pre97 #16 |

120/70 is fine on a bike that has a standard profile a bit lower. A common mod on many bikes road or track to improve handling.
I'd stick with the 160, decent tyres are more readily available in those sizes generally.
For part-worns, shout at Luke (lots, he's lazy, like ), think he's got some in your sizes for sale.
Incidentally, I've got some wets here in your sizes, but they're avons, so probably best avoided .
Generally the good brands make good wets.
What bike is it? |

yup its track only so the grippier the better, agreed 090s wont really suit (and i didnt really like them when i had em on my rvf ) theres supercorsas on it atm and they seem quite good so id like to stick to them for the time being, altho for the right price anything wud be considered lol theres the option of slicks but i know i couldnt get the best from them. Its full race wets im looking for for the spare wheels for when its pishin down |

Dunlop rear wet should be ok, though don't think I've had specific experience with them myself.
Wets often go up half a size for bikes that take 160, but some times down similarly for some bigger bikes.
I quite like 090s myself and they'd probably just about be ok on the CBR, however Supercorsa's does seem the way to go.
You'd probably spend longer warming up slicks and may have some issues if it's really cold. That said, they let you /really/ take the piss in some situations . |
