Quote:
British Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has had his driving licence suspended for a month after being caught speeding on a French motorway.
The 22-year-old was clocked travelling at 196km/h (122mph) in a Mercedes near the northern town of Laon on Sunday.

The McLaren driver was also ordered to pay a 600 euro (£430) fine.

Police described Mr Hamilton as "co-operative and courteous", and said they gave him a lift to his hotel after impounding his vehicle.

The speed limit on French motorways is 130km/h (85mph).

Much better speed limits and a much fairer penalty - over here that'd probably be a year.

Funny thing is that he's probably a better driver at those speeds than the police.

Thats probably very true. Doesn't mean he should be allowed to do it though.

Oncoming traffic? , french motorways are like our motorways , but narrower and from my experience deserted , thing is though they have a 85mph limit yet most of them are 2 lanes + shoulder type affairs , except the horrendous ones outside Paris which is proper combat filtering.

Agree with you on the speed limits.. But he's probably got away with a lenient penalty as he was lewis hamilton.. and he has some good in house solicitors working for him.

That boy is an arrogant fucking little nob.

I can't stand the fucking sight of him.

Bring back Jenson Button and give him a chance in a decent car.

That smirk on Hamilton's face gets right up my nose.

I can't put my finger on it but he just isn't right. there is just something about him that doesn't sit comfortable with me.
Perhaps in a few years we will find out what it is.

I think he is talented, and a bit silly to speed and get caught.

I havnt seen any reason to dislike him.

It seems a bit early for us to turn on him really, hes only just got started, at least wait until his success is getting a bit boring.
