hi,
i had some oxford heated grips on an xlr i used for commuting. they are excellent on a cold morning even with tempratures down to minus 5. you will need to make sure that your battery and generator can handle the load, 'cos with all your lights on and everything being cold and less efficient, it might be a problem even with the small current drain on the battery. i did have to replace one grip though as it fell to bits, but they were replaced by the dealers i bought them from foc, via oxford products.
i would have to say that they are 100% better than loads of gloves, which tend to restrict circulation and make your hands cold quicker. it pays to remember that if your fingers can't operate the brake smoothly then you can't stop smoothly, and you end up sliding down the road on your ass, this is not reccomended.
cheers carl.

I used a pair of heated grips on my 1200 Bandit last winter (it gets VERY cold a 6am when you have 45 miles to ride to work!), and they were really good. I never needed them turned on for more than about 5 mins at a time, and I never needed glove liners with them.

I take offence to that, I don't ride a Goldwing! Wink

I think they're a great idea. All my instuctors used them.
Not for old men Kev, for ppl who actually ride their bikes instead of spending most of their time with the bike in bits Wink
