Just popped down to Netto (yes im to pikey for aldi) to get some eggs and stuff, outside of netto is an ARC car washing place, to the side of the carwash is a man jet washing his bright yellow triumph daytona.

As I come back out of netto i see the man swearing and picking something up off the floor.
Then i noticed his bike.......The pressure from the jet was has taken the "day" from daytona off the decal on the side of his bike.

He looked less than impressed! I think there is a lesson learnt there.

Now you see why most owners refer to their daytona as 'tona's Wink

Bucket of water and a sponge in the garden, means you can take your time and have a cuppa...

Don't buy a bike that you're going to be worried about decals coming off? Razz

Am I the only one that finds N30's image slightly pornographic?

As for pressure washers, just keep the nozzle a good couple feet away. Damage usually only occurs when you get the tip too close. As that's where the real speed and pressure's at.

What he said, been washing bikes and cars with jet washers for as long as i can remember and it's never done any damage to any of them.

It's just a common myth about the damage it can cause but if you stay a feasible distance from the object you're spraying you'll have no problem.

As for N30's bike...it does look like someone has unloaded some serious spaff all over it Laughing

as for the person that asked about the damage it was all fine, quick blast with the washer got it all off. tire were a bit iffy on the way out though.

it can lift loose paint off, if there is a chip and water gets behind it, it will flake off a sizeable chunk of the paint.

It has done it on the rear bumper of my car, slight scratch + pressure washer = 2cm of paint gone. Smile
and the nozzel was a good 2 foot away

I now do it the old fashioned way, then just use a standard tap pressure hose pipe with a spray attachment to rinse it off..

I used to manage one of these "roll in roll out hand car washes" and we used these high pressure electric/diesel powered jobbies mentioned above.

https://www.industrial-equipment.biz/Karcher_HDS_Classic.jpg

They are fine to use, but quite rightly said before, stay about 2 feet away otherwise it can cut leave a nice deep scar on metal.

Some of the staff used to "accidentally" scar car wheels if the owner was a muppet.

peace out

CaNsA
