On my way home today I was on the dual carriageway for about 20/30 mins doing about 50/60 mph then I had to slow down for the traffic lights, as I slowed down I went to down shift so clutch in and pushed down on the lever, it moved but nothing happened. I came to a complete stop and tried again but still nothing, lights went green so I had to take off in the gear I was in, I slowed again but this time it did down shift! Dance! Anyone know why this happened?

(on a side not has the site been down for a few hours or is it just me? Laughing )

Did you pull the clutch in and out a few times whilst trying to change? Only reason I ask, was in my car, sometimes it won't select reverse, so I have to let the clutch out and then back in before it selects it..

(Site was down for hours)

Nope because I was only doing about 10mph at the time so I was afraid of stalling but maybe that's why it worked after I'd moved off again

I had this happen to me too, turned out a fairing bolt had worked loose and was fouling the gear peg Rolling Eyes

It sounds like yours might be the splines on the peg are worn or the clamp is loose.

This happens to me a fair bit.
What i have to do is sort of rock me bike and let the clutch out a little bit to the biting point. ( Then it will get in gear)
I think its quite common, go on the workshop and ask.
I bet someone will have a good answer.

When moving and dropping gears it never happens.
I think its when the gears are not moving as you have stoped they dont line up and slot in correctly ??
