I'm gonna need some new tyres for my bandit 400 pretty soon as they're both getting pretty low on tread.

I'm looking for some cheap tyres, I don't really care what they are aslong as they're half decent, I'm looking to keep costs down as I don't want to spend much more on this bike as I'm getting a new (used) one in April.

The tyres I have on at the moment are:

Front - Arrowmax 110/70 -17
Rear - Kings Tyres 140/70 -17

I don't have anything to go by but I don't have much confidence in these tyres/the bike. They seem very unpredictable in the wet, and in the summer when leaning I feel like I'm gonna lose it.

I've consulted my manual and it says the rear is a 150/70 -17, should I go for one of these?

Ideally I want something that will have a fair bit of tread left in April for when I sell the bike.

I've looked on this site and I can get a set of Pirelli Sport Demons for just under £100. These ones:

Quote:

110/70 - 17 M/C 54H TL Sport Demon Front
110/70 - 17 M/C 54H TL
Sport Demon Front
F
1342900

£ 38.00

150/70 - 17 M/C 69H TL Sport Demon
150/70 - 17 M/C 69H TL
Sport Demon
R
1343300

£ 52.73

Are these the correct tyres and does anyone know what they're like? Could I get a set of anything else for a lot less?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

No experiance of the tyres, but a matched set should be better.
Cheap tyres can often be hard and offer less grip in the wet.

As to retailer Thumbs Up Very good.

Before you buy online make sure that you know of somewhere that will fit and balance the tyres for you. A lot of motorcycle shops/places will only fit tyres supplied by themselves and you don't want to end up with a pair of tyres that either no-one will touch or that cost you a fortune to get the mounted.

Ideally should be looking to pay no more than about £10 per tyre fitted/balanced to a loose wheel.

Good point Matt.
While BCT do, do tyre fitting, handy as they also have a cafe, under the shop... So nice warming coffee and bacon buttie is on hand as well as somewhere warm to sit Mr. Green The OP may find that a better deal can be had locally.

I didn't look at the website that much to realise that they are a shop too as well as internet sellers.

In fact looking at the website, it really is poor in its design as it is very hard to find any contact details other than an 0870 phone number, and no mention of trading terms and conditons, delivery information, returns etc.

I'm not knocking BCT themselves but I personally would not buy anything from their website just because it so poor. Thumbs Down

Thumbs Up Karma

They used to be known as BFM and are based in Shipley, West Yorks.
Always very busy when you call in, in fact it can be a pain as you often have to wait a while as the staff are always on the phones...

Have to agree that the site is bad, and the lack of contact details is against regs relating to online sales if they are taking CC.

Ive bought from them before, for a mate, great service, next day delivery, was very impressed.

I do know of someone who will fit the tyres.

So a matching set should be better?

Any more advice?

Cheers.

Well I ordered these tyres last night at 16:00 and they came today at 12:00! I love this company. They over-nighted them.

Gonna whip my wheels off now and take them with the tyres to my mechanic to fit.

Cheers guys.

They seem pretty decent so far. No problems with them sliding out or anything, saying that i'm winter riding. Nice thick tread on them now, almost a centimetre.

From experience get the best tyres you can your remember your life depends on these things. This time of year with slippery roads you want something that is going to make you feel confident in your riding and not grabbing the bull by the horns.

I got a bandit 600 and ordered a pair of avon's st's form a fella on ebay round and black Is what the companys called. They cost £130 pound and the write up on them.

I changed the back a few weeks back and have had nothing but good feedback from it. The front is now in need of changing so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

here is link for round and black
https://stores.ebay.co.uk/RoundAndBlack

as stated you will have to fit them yourself or get someone to do it for you. All the best AJ
