Ive stripped an old bike and i need to clean the frame and swingarm as they are really filthy.

Someone recommend that i would get the best results by steam cleaning it. Is that a good idea or not as i can easily borrow one from a friend.

I know i could cake it in degreeaser and go down that route or sandblasting and powder coating route but i specifically want to know about steam cleaning. Anyone know?

Thanks.

I have tried using steam cleaning and I found it pants, maybe I wasn't doing it right but warm water and a cloth easier.

Steam cleaning will get all the crap off, but what do you intend to do with the parts afterwards ?

If you are hoping to just replace them without repainting or powder coating then i would go the by hand route.

If you're talking about a proper full-on industrial steam cleaner (as in one that will knock you over when you pull the trigger if you don't brace yourself), then they are excellent. Hobby/domestic onces are pretty useless in comparison.
