And here as promised from my previous post are my Cree shotguns.

All they are are two small cr123 3watt cree flashlights bought from deal extreme with a large bit of heatshrink round them (mainly to look nice) They are wired in series and then linked to the other pair in series again to accept upto 16 volts, they will run at near full brightness from 10 volts.

Very good daytime lights and good for saving my main lamp.
I have tried them in complete darkness and due to the throw of them being greater than their area covering abilities, they light up a nice patch 10 feet infront of the bike, but it is only a patch, the sidespill is not worth talking about.
Here you can see them competing against my headlight.

If I were to hazard a guess at how many of these you would need to replace a standard H4? I would go with around 4 times what I have, I forget what these units metered when I tested them, I think they drew around 1.5 amps @12 volts for all 4, so 6 ish amps and having 16 little flashlights hanging off my bike all looking at different parts of the road would look a bit o.t.t, maybe
Anyways, these cost me about an hour to make and another hour to fit with a relay, the price was around 30 pounds all in.

I quite like those. Well done.
Presumably you know that any light fitted has to be e-marked to comply with C&U regulations / get through MOT. |
