Hello chaps,

My PC is getting on a bit now and I'm thinking about upgrading the graphics card.

At the moment I've got an nVidia 7950GT 512Mb. Due to the design of my case I'm limited to a single slot card so was thinking about getting a 8800GT as these seem to be a reasonable price.

Would I notice much difference in the performance of the new card? Would it run a game like Crysis at a reasonable spec?

There's lot of different versions of the card from different manufacturers at different prices - is there a difference in the cards?

Cheers and merry crimbo.

mate, go for the 8800 GTS 512.

I brought mine last night and i'm playing Crysis at 1024x768 on Very high, on 2 x AA, using DirectX10. you need vista to be able to use DirectX10 but it's worth it IMO.

google the differece between directx9 and 10.

I paid 200 quid for mine brand new.

PS the 8800 GTS is a PCi-E

But the GTS is a dual slot card isn't it?

no, takes up one Pci-e slot, BUT, i'd say it's 40% longer than a normal graphics card, fits in my P5W motherboard fine.
