Anyone set up a x-box 360 to play movies/photos/music on your tell from a network drive?
Looking to use mine to show off photos and watch digital movies.
Any hints/tips would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's only possible to stream directly from a PC/Mac, not from a hard drive plugged into a router (NAS). If your drive is plugged into a PC then it'll work fine so long as the PC's on and has suitable streaming software installed (windows media player should do the trick).

If you have a portable hard drive you can just connect it via usb and run audio, pics and video that way.

Yep. The issue really is that certain software is needed at the source, or the 360 won't even know it's there. For all I know there may be some software that can be setup with NAS, but as I don't use it I'm not too hot on that side of things. As Ashley says, you can also just bung a USB HD next to the console and do it like that.
