To be honest, anything that does 70-80mph is technically "fast enough"...and bigger (i.e. faster) bikes aren't only about high insurance premiums...there's the poor fuel economy (scoff if you wish, but it all adds up), servicing & maintenence, tyres, tax etc. If you can't afford the insurance, then you might struggle with paying the bills for that stuff.
And if you bin the bike (slow or high speed), then you'll most certainly face a bigger bill for a faired sports bike than you would a naked 4/5/600.
Just some thoughts... ____________________ TiN

70-80mph is technically fast enough, so why isnt everyone on NSR's
Yeah, I know about costs, and these will go up with the size of the bike
Binning the bike at any speed will damage any bike. Fairing is expensive, but adds to speed, and less wind |

exactly- I slid my planet the other week and its gonna cost barely anything to fix (the problem is just getting the parts ). If it had a fairing it would have been completely wrecked. Thats one of the reasons unfaired bikes cost less to insure.
Does anyone know what insurance group a hornet 600 is in? |

I *think* its done on the percentage/ proberbility of it being crashed.
Faired bikes (generally) are faster, more appealing, but crashed more. therefore higher insurance |

I def agree there. Just bung a faired bike up to buggery and pray for grippy roads. I couldn't bring myself to ride without a fairing though, it's just not right ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |

I'd like to try a faired bike sometime- its gotta be nice having the wind kept off you. It sounds daft but I've never been on a bike with a fairing- I'll have to get my uncle to give me a go on his FZR600.
I love the looks of unfaired bikes though- real motorcycles |
