Those bl00dy 'Gritter' lorries. There savage. Due to me having a tinted visor (black) and not being bothered to change it (gets difficult when you keep having to switch them) i have to have my visor up when the dark sets it,and in the past week and a bit ive been caned twice by gritter lorries. First time it suprised me and i got nearly a faceful of grit and it hit my bike, this time tonight i thought 'here it comes' the second before i got covered. P^ssed me off big time really, stuff like that can quite easily injure you if your travelling at excessive speeds, and also can damage your bike id imagine. But oh well, just a heads up to watch out for the swines! Wink Laughing Thumbs Up

TBH if you ride with a black visor at night then you are asking for trouble! Buy a Shoei, you can change the visor over in 30 seconds....

If i can add to the blatantly obvious news, remember to wipe after a number 2. I heard it can get quite slippery down there if you dont. Thumbs Up Rolling Eyes

Nothing wrong with the gritter lorries unless you like falling off on the Ice. Common sense says the first time you got gritted in the face its time to put a clear visor on. Then again you should have a clear on on at night anyway. If the Police see you expect a bollocking at the least!

Gritters are bastarts and so are the bastarts who drive and load them up with that shite they put on the road to make it more dangerous to drive on.... Evil or Very Mad

Walloper, can you imagine what it'd be like if they didn't grit the roads?

You'd have far far more accidents on our roads. And you certainly wouldn't be able to ride a bike in the winter unless you like sliding down the road on your arse.

Also I dislike them too after I drive the other direction past one the other day only to have my windscreen get cracked by some of the larger salt stones that were thrown at my car by it! But they do their job and needs must!

Must say they aren't bad compared to most scooters on speed, probably because they are quite light. Very uncomfortable I found though, a friend had one. Shite experience on it though, he has bent handlebars. Laughing

If your vision is obstructed you can concentate your nuts off but you still wont see 100%. Vision needs light. Dark worn dirty visors block light. If light is blocked you will not see things.

I never saw your smile coz you had a dark visor on. But if I concentrate I can see the funny side of that..

Thats all well and true but i've still not had a problem with my visor. Where as my clear one just blinds me from car lights.

It is not the brightest thing to use at night. There is always a chance someone wearing dark clothes walks out and you just will not see them. Not worth th chance of a pull either.
But if you must. Karma

I dont do it to look good or anything its just what stops me from being blinded, if you want see anyone walkin around then its normally safe plus this is very late at night, i've seen kids run out in dark trackies and still failed to hit them. and i've been pulled at night with a tint, and nothing was said. I know what your saying though.

Black visor on my first lid was a bastard at night, was as dark looking out as it was looking in.

Black visor on my new lid is alot better though, more light tint on the inside so can still see pretty well at night.

I just won't change it over because it looks crap lol

Pretty dumb attitude and the kind of thing that will get black visors banned for all of us even in the Summer.

As for the excuse about cars blinding you..... you are fucking kidding, as somebody else said, black visor, at night, pedestrian crossing a dark road (or even kid on a quad bike!), priceless.....
