TDM 850 Sensible 1st bike or not?

People keep trying to convince me to get a TDM rather than a 600 Transalp as a first bike after a slow 125.

Is it a sensible 1st big bike?

Since i keep reading reviews about it being 80bhp and jumpy when you give it lots of revs. Should i be really hold out for a nice 600 Transalp or F650 instead as a 1st bike if i want to save my licence and neck in the first few years with a big bike? Confused

I must admit i can be a bit heavy on the throttle Embarassed

I don't see it being a big problem over the smaller bikes. It will have a bit more go, but will also be higher geared, so may be equally likely to catch you out.

Had a TRX briefly and wouldn't describe the engine as jumpy, more like twist the throttle and wait for something to happen, certainly isn't too much for a first big bike, most 600s make more power and are sharper on the throttle.
