Its supposed to have sleet falling today (although its blue skies from what i can see at the moment) and light snow tomorrow here in manchester. Anyone got any tips of dealing with it if it actually starts? Im in work at the moment and need to ride home later!?

Love riding in heavy snow, not so much in sleet as it tends to feel much colder.

i remember when it snowed last year and it was some of the best fun i ever had and it teaches you a hell of alot about bike control ect although it was a bit hairy at times given the slickness of my tires Shocked

Its been snowing where I live today, and I had to venture out. I've only got a 50 at the moment, (Roll on 17th birthday! Thumbs Up ) but even just pulling away on that had the back end out most of the way, and wheels locking under very little braking. Scary as fuck. Had to go really slow round town to avoid dropping it. (Really hard to do on a 50! Laughing ) Best advice would be to go as slow as possible, brake very lightly and early so your wheels don't lock-up, and don't give it shit through the corners. Common sense really.

Better still rely on engine braking...

Come on, on a 50 you should be able to let the rear hang out round the corners speedway style Thumbs Up Karma

Just wish i had a off road bike, so much easier to ride in the snow, with more grip and fun to let the rear loose.

Biggest problem is the 4 wheel muppets who need to ride right up your jacksie, and fail to understand that on 2 wheels you can't go fast.....

I did let the back hang out before in the snow. Bad mistake. No damage to bike apart from the indicator snapped, as thankfully all the impact was on my leg not the bike! Thumbs Up

I agree with that. When I came off, as mentioned before, the twat that was up my arse seen it happen, and whilst I was on the ground getting the bike off my leg, he just hits the horn and sped off round me. BASTARD Middle Finger

Lol @ the guy who recommended engine braking.

The snow must of missed me this year as I only saw a few flakes. Nothing laid.

Last year it was thick, I couldn't -
Accelerate
Brake
Engine Brake
without locking the rear, the only thing that stopped me sliding was keeping a constant speed and even then it was still sliding all over the place, albeit slightly. This was on a 125.

I was looking forward to going out on my tatty 400 though Sad Bit sad it didn't snow really.
