 |

Hi,
My sons RS50 keeps jumping out of gear while riding. Not during gear changing just riding along and suddenly its in a false neutral and the engines racing. Anyone know of this happening to this model or any tips before taking it to an Aprilia dealer. I've adjusted the clutch and chain and he's going to try it again tomorrow. Its a 2004 model.

Make sure he is taking his foot completely off the gearshift lever before he goes for the next gear. Quite common that people don't let it return fully between changes, especially when changing up.
Sometimes moving the lever up a bit can help stop this. I blame the current fad for rigid style bike boots, you can't feel what you are doing. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

The AM6 is known for false neutrals, mostly between 5th and 6th.
Is he wearing trainers? I encountered alot more of them when wearing trainers rather than boots (never wear trainers on bikes anymore ) |

Sometimes trainers, sometimes the boots I bought him and told him to wear ALL the time, and sometimes work boots. Dont know if it's worse with one than another I'll have to ask tonight. I've told him to make sure all his gear changes are very positive and see how it goes.
