If i'm not mistaken its also what they use for the dakar rally (albeit in a somewhat altered form)
There well supported for extras and solid bikes all arround, what you want in shitty conditions is steady dependable predictable power not a snarling fire-breathing monster.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

As could be seen from his TV thingie, the bikes used on the dakar are far different to what can be picked up in ya' local dealership. |
maybe we should arrange an alternative Dakar , where custom fabricated parts are not allowed , only standard from the factory bikes or with only for road use bits (cept tyres) , I'd still take a dominator, with my insanely large endurance (and probably dodgy) fuel tanks, cram 60 litres onto her , I'd worry about bandits (as in Ali babas not GSF600s!) , robbing me with an RPG, ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I have both a 650 and 1200GS, and they're great!
They both do 200 miles to a tank, bomb proof, easy to maintain, and a joy to ride.
The 650's do 90-100mph, and are fantastic for twisties. Admittedly, they only have 50bhp, but have quite a lot or torque, so while top speed is down, you get there quickly!
I've got a zx12r as a comparison bike, and I have to be honest, I prefer both beemers to the kwak.
If you get yourself to any bmw dealers, you can sort out a testride no problem. ____________________ Living with Schizophrenia is like being with your best friend 24 hours a day. Enjoy it while you can! |

Get's my approval. Got one as a winter hack around some land, bit slippy on grass though, but that's down to the tyre choice. Good compromise between mud and road, the switchable ABS is good fun too.
Opted for a small 'bumbag' on the back, a metal sump guard and hardwired connection for a battery charger/conditioner at the same time.
Tempted by the G650 Xmoto for the summer. ____________________ Too Fast For Even The Plod To Keep Up With |
