I was on my way to my lesson (driving a cbf 250 around town with a teacher behind me) and I was a bit distracted so I took a wrong turn. Instead of going around about 10 blocks (as I was on the point of being late), I decided to cut through a one way road by riding the sidewalk. Its a downhill so I turned the engine off and coasted to just before the corner, turned the engine on while going and turned. There was a copper parked about 2 metres away from me across the road waving at me to get over there. He asked me what the hell I was doing and I felt like such a twat I just said the truth.
Then I found out that I wasn't in posession of my receipt for my insurance... I had to take an alcohol test (0.00) and after a bit of calling to central etc I got off with a fine for 50 pounds (100 if not payed in 15 days) for driving on the sidewalk. Being sincere and talking to him respectfully let me dodge the fact that I didnt have the receipt (40 quid) and I was going on a ONE WAY ROAD.
I'm pissed off but thankful and the lesson, although I missed a third of it, went great.
Now that I think about it I should have said I had the bike parked 5 metres up the road on the sidewalk. Maybe I wouldve gotten away with it

I'm not being funny mate but coasting on pavement wrong way on a one way and not having a document you need there and you get off with a small fine for only being on the pavement which you were blatently doing... sounds to me you did just fine out of it!

Seconded, think you got away pretty luckily, like you said, maybe it's because you actually showed the officer respect instead of just winding him up and trying to get out of it, as most people seem to do these days.

Then you will never do it again, as the feeling of disappointing them will make sure of it.
Dont beat yourself up over it though, we all make mistakes and we learn from them. Thumbs Up

Er . . . . . No you don't! You never lie as they have heard it all before and you will look a right plonker and tie yourself in knots. You tell them what they need to know and don't admit to anything that will incriminate you. Be sincere and polite and they may let you off with a bollocking.

And for me. Laughing
Should of really rephrased what i said to make more sense and not give the wrong impression, but you've done it for me.
Listen kids, if you get stopped, just be respectful and think about what your saying. Then a police person ( Wink ) is more likely to just tell you off for all your kitten killing. And make sure your sorry for what you've done wrong.
