 |
|
First post, so Hi all.
Right, I have my CBT booked tomorrow, have already passed my theory and am hoping to do my DAS later this month.
Any hints, tips and general wisdom would be greatly appreciated at this point as to be honest, i'm weeing myself
Particularly worried about staying upright to be honest, despite spending many an hour as a pillion. Someone tell me it's as easy as it looks.... |

It's as easy as it looks. Almost
Seriously, you'll have a laff. You have plenty of time to get it right before heading out onto the road.
My only advice would be to go easy on the clutch and throttle. Took me ages to stop stalling it.
Oh, and try and remember to turn off your indicators |

Relax and enjoy it, your instructor is there to help you and wants you to complete your CBT. ____________________ 2005 xt660x in red, not everyone's cup of tea but neither is coffee

Well that's it, I passed
What an incredible day. It snowed slightly and I don't think i've ever been as cold in my life but soon forgot when I was on the bike.
Make no mistake it isn't as easy as it looks at first, but with true patience and sensible tuition it comes, it really does, and quickly.
There's a fair amount of blind faith to be put in what the instructor says and try to overrule your instincts to look/put feet down but he's right.....if you can think with your mind and not act on your nerves you'll be fine.
My top tips for everyone pre CBT who reads this?
1, Find a good training school, I searched for a good few weeks before comitting to one i'd heard great things about and it was well worth it.
2, Chin up, it took the instructor stood at one end of the pad waving his yellow vest at me and yelling to make me realise where I should be focusing, but he caught my attention, I looked up, and completed the UTurn no probs..
3, Have faith. You'll be doing manouvers that seem to defy physics, but they dont. I feel a fool that I was worried about it staying upright. If you can start and stop in a controlled manner the rest looks after itself.
4, Confide in your instructor. He/she's seen it all before and a thousand times worse, it's just another day at the office for them. Tell them what you're worried about, they'll help you nail it.
Thanks for all your sterling advice. I'm booking a week off work towards the end of this month to do my DAS, they think i'll do it in four days.
