Before I go ordering one of these:

https://www.kriega.com/pages_uk/us20/US20-topframeset.html

https://www.kriega.com/images/product/us20_pics/US20front.jpg

and sticking my laptop in it as a tail-pack; has anyone got any good suggestions for carrying a laptop on a bike?

I don't want to put it in the top-box if I can help it, as I don't take the top-box most days.

I also don't fancy taking it in a rucksack, as I've yet to find a laptop rucksack that's comfortable enough, never mind carrying all that weight around.

My Boblebee feels just right when lugging that laptop + charger + external desktop drive + camera about to scotland. Didn't get a backache or anything of that sort. the rear countour hugs your back (since it is designed as a back protector as well). I'd trust something that's on ME as opposed to ON the bike. www.ebags.com do the same one as on me

I've just used the laptop's own case as a shoulder bag. I have the strap just long enough so the bag rests on the seat behind me to take the weight of the straps.

I use a US10 for my locks on the seat and I wouldn't stick my laptop in it, as good as the tailpack is, I'd be too worried about vibrations through the bike wrecking the laptop over time. Put it in a decently padded backpack imho

I refuse a laptop from work and just carry a 2gig memory stick in my pocket synced on my home and works machines.

Hi

Baglux / Bagster make / sell a tank bag to carry a laptop on one of their tank covers. I have one.

I've got an Antler backpack I use. Used to use normal backpacks and they were uncomfortable, this however unbelievably comfortable (thick padded straps and bottom of the back area) and the weight is spread around evenly so even the heaviest of laptops feel light.

You can see the padded part for your lower back in this one:

On the rare occasions I need to carry my laptop I just use the normal laptop bag (surprisingly waterproof) and SECURELY bungee it to the seat.

Both my tank bags are too small for my laptops (besides the fact that the bags are magnetic and wouldn’t mix well with the HDDs) so I always use a rucksack.

I went for one of these:

https://www.targus.com/uk/product_details.asp?sku=TSB212

Big enough to carry a bit of shopping etc as well as the laptops. It can get a bit heavy so for longer journeys I put everything except the laptop in a tail pack and that way I can ride all day.

They aren't big enough to fit a laptop in flat, so if I need to carry anything else in there its not going to be practical. Better if I carry the clothes and stuff in the panniers and the laptop somewhere else

I simply place my laptop bag (with laptop) inside my rucksack. Bit of a squeeze but it all fits and stays very dry for my daily commute to work.

I was always worried about using my magnetic tank bag as im sure it aint healthy placing my laptop so close to those magnets?? Confused

The Bagster / Baglux bags don't use magnets at all. They just clip to a harness for that bike.

Laptop one is pretty good but doesn't take a massive laptop.

All the best
