Bloke at work flies RC planes and set the seed for a little flying fun.
Years back I got a balsa wood flying kit that seemed to take weeks to make, cover in tissue and then dope to the eyeballs before the maiden flight. Like the Titanic it didn't fair too good as the wings were slightly warped and the rubber band eventually broke, but good fun on a winter's sunny day.
See some kits in Hobby Craft a while back and went for a look today and ended up buying this bad boy for £8.

It was a toss up between this and the Typhoon (one of my most favourite looking aircraft) and the awesome FW190.
I think the shear evilness of the Stuka and what fear it struck into the people that it was bombing won the day.
With the tongue gently protruding out of the corner of my mouth the knife gently cut out the pieces and slowly it started to come together.

Hopefully I'll be able to complete it whenever I've got a spare couple of hours here and there. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Cool. I had an rc plane years ago. I hated flying it. I wasn't very good at it and it stressed me out, but I loved the building part. I found it really interesting. Rebuilding after a crash was great as it wasn't just following instructions. Great stuff.
I always remember my mate spending months rebuilding a crashed spitfire he bought 2nd hand. On the maiden flight it stopped responding to the controls and flew off into the distance before coming down slap bang in the middle of an inaccesible factory roof. |
