Hi Guys,

Well looking at getting another bike in the next 12 weeks with being nearly 18 (will be 18 in 12 weeks) I get raped on insurance for a 600cc.

I currently have a fzr400cc 20,000 miles on the clock runs like a dream but cosmetically its shocking.

I want to keep it for the odd weekend run and commuting as this year it will cost me £230 to insure.

So a gs500 would cost £200 with out my ncb - CHEAP for me anyway.

Im 6ft2 would I have any problems riding a gs500 - they look small.

Is it a bad idea to have two bikes? Everyone I speaks to says its pointless.

Thanks,

Cameron

The fuck? How is your insurance so cheap at 18! I'm almost 19 and I'll be paying around £500 to insure the GS500 in April :'(

Height wise, it'll be fine. I'm also 6ft2 and I've done about 7-8k miles this year, ~2000+ 2up, and I've never felt really uncomfortable.

Clip ons are good comfort wise on the later models, haven't ridden an early model one. They do look bling bling chav tastic though. Wide bars are great for comfort and city/town riding too.

Seat isn't particularly comfy after ~150 miles, but I doubt many are.

Buy a good one though, GSs seem to be catching aids recently.

I've commuted on mine over winter and it's been fine. I'm 6"1 and it's perfectly comfortable. Get around 45mpg, it'll cruise easily at 90mph and never seems to use any oil. Just watch out for rust as it's a bugger for it, I'd also invest in a hugger and a fender extender.

I also insured it for £284 TPFT with wickedquotes. That's with a restriction kit and fairing set. I'm 19.

I'm 6'1 and am quite comfortable on my cb500; nice upright seating position.
I'm sure it's almost the same compared to a gs.

I'd recommend a fly screen as it really does help divert the wind from hitting your chest, unless you're getting the faired gs obviously.

Insurance ain't too bad.
18 years old. I paid £500 last May after I passed my test with 1 years ncb, but I can get it now for £275, or £150 when I renew if I go tpft with a mahoosive excess (would never claim anyway) and 2 years ncb.

I have an 02 GS I'm about 6'1 maybe 6'2 and the seat height is fine for me.

Bike easily sits at 80+ I've topped mine out at about 95 before it ran out of steam/I ran out of bottle.. The wind can be quite a factor lol..

I would consider keeping the GS as a second bike if I were to get a bike such as a sumo Thumbs Up
