Just wondering if anyone knows what tyres best suit a 400. I know im sadly going to be paying around 200 quid whatever set I get so may aswell got something good.

I would like them to have a decent amount of life (ridden normaly) and obviously be sticky.

The bikes a ZXR 400, my riding will mostly be a quick pace Laughing so im willing to sacrifice a bit of mileage for something extra sticky.

Any opinions?

If i get nothing il be going with Big Hams tyre review!

BT090's. Very sticky, and die quickly, but they are awesome.

I used to love them on my 400's.

+ 1 here, man they gripped till they died, and they were still going strong after that!
mine died on the corners, and had miles more to go in the middle. Dual compound.

I ran allsorts on my ZXR400 untill I found the tyres that suited me.

Pirrelli Diablo's, absolutly fantastic. the stuck like poo to a blanket even when very worn. Got good mileage out of them too.

The corsa version was great in the summer but was'nt too good in the wet.

I found brigestones made the front very twitchy and dunlops had no rear grip and took ages to warm up. I stuck with the diablo's for my last 6 sets!

I like the Conti Road Attacks that Big Ham reviewed.
The only fault I had was that my rear didn't last all that long for a sports/touring tyre on a 400.

I've got the Dunlop D208 Sportsmax now.
I haven't really had a chance to test them properly, my first impressions were that the profile of the tyre felt horrible tipping it into a corner compared to the Conti.
The Dunlop is great in the wet though much more grippy then the Conti and that wasn't bad or anything.
Haven't used them in hot/dry weather yet though so they might be crap in good conditions.

I rode Chappers21's gsxr 400 in torrential rain with conti attacks on. Ive never felt so safe as i did with those. Cant vouch for the dry performance tho!

As I said Before from one zxr owner to another id recomend the diablo's!

Another vote for the bt090's here. They are awesome wether its wet or dry, very confidence inspiring.
I also had some dunlop gp racers on my old 400, once they were warmed up they were very good too, but i didnt like them much in the wet.

Same GSXR Laughing .

They were shit hot in the dry too. Wink

Although if you're doing dry miles only and don't care about mileage I suspect the 090's are superior although I have never used them.
