https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7184510.stm

Gordo has decided to simplify and make more transparent parking fines and regs,

CCTV , drive offs , tickets not stuck to vehicles are not legal etc etc.

Translation - Gordo has messed up the economy REALLY BADLY , and NEEDS you money as much as possible and thus the evidence for parking tickets is to be lowered to catch more people for bigger fines.

the iffy issue is the "drive off" ticket scam , in that normally if you drive off and no ticket is stuck to the car = no ticket. And or engine running on double yellows = not parked

parking enforcement of the future?

Transport Minister Rosie Winterton said this was vital because "some people will drive away very quickly if they see a parking attendant approaching".

"That can be dangerous for other drivers and it can be dangerous for pedestrians," Ms Winterton said.

"So we'll be allowing traffic wardens to issue tickets even if somebody is in the process of driving away and that's a real safety issue."

This woman sounds like an idiot, plain and simple. Issuing tickets while someone is driving away, how can you possibly draw a line for that, there will be thousands of people getting tickets they never even knew about, and the dispute system will get clogged up for months. Can't see how that will ever be implemented.

The current system of them having to physically put it on the screen, and prove it with a picture, is the only fair way I see to do it. Also gives us a fighting chance to get away.

They have no real interest in preventing people parking where they aren't allowed, if they did they would put bollards up, they just know its a damn good money spinner. You can see this, as they always go for the easy targets;

I.e Massive commercial vehicle making essential deliverys, guaranteed to be tied up for 20+ minutes = Issue ticket.

Highly strung yuppie type in a sportscar.. can make a quick getaway and high likelyhood of a confrontation = don't issue ticket.

Can't wait for the day that they finally price the haulage industry out of London, and one of these high up idiots finally gets that "oh shit" sinking feeling, as no trucks arrive that day. Middle Finger

I cant help but think that half the people complaining about parking fines are the ones that park where they like anyway.
I cant speak for the whole country, but around here people seem to think its acceptable to park on the zig zags of a level crossing so they dont have to walk 20 yards to the newsagents, also double yellows dont count if they're outside a take away.
