suspension setup shops?????

was wondering if there are any bike shops that will set up your suspension in a basic way, in london. the only place i can find is charging £290. can't see how they justify that really, any other places around. This is the one i found https://www.setupengineering.co.uk/


the reason i ask is that for christmas my brothers said they would pay for a dynojet kit,K&N air filter and the set up on my new akro can. however i went to banjax today and had the zx6 j1 dynoed. They said it didnt need a jet kit and was pritty much spot on 100.25 bhp Very Happy

they said they could do it but was just wondering if there were any other places

Can you not set it up yourself? There are guides on the net that help you acheive the right settings, but if you take it to a nice twistie road and take a few tools with you, just see which gets you the best feel.
Its better to learn than to keep paying people everytime you get a bike and need suspension setting up.

My thunderace had it's suspension set up by SetupEngineering. They aren't 'cheap' but they are VERY good..

have had a crack at the suspension myself before, however the rear shock has a seized lock nut. i have an idea of how to do a basic setup just cant get the bike how i want it. tbh its due for a valve clearance service, so it would kill two brid's with one stone if i could get a nice setup from a bike shop after they service the suspension, valves and what not.

Might be worth overhauling the suspension, rather than attempting to adjust a past-it item.

Not in London, but not that far out - Harris in Hertford. My bro had his R1's suspension fettled by them and never ever stops going on about what a difference it made to his bike.

There was an artical in ride a month or 2 back, they took a Z750 and got the suspention set up and rebuilt it cost about £300 and completely transformed the bike. Can't remeber where it was done so sorry for not being much help Laughing

Its only worth following that setup if your suspension is in good condition in the first place though... I would say that spending thirty quid getting knackered suspension 'set up' is throwing good money away.

Personally I'd look at a shock/fork rebuild and possibly a new rear shock, depending if it is rebuildable or not. Usually shocks with remote reservoirs are rebuildable, and the ones with piggy backs are not.

Wrong. Most shocks are rebuildable except those that have a welded seem or indentation around the main body.

Surely there must be a little bolt you can undo to put more gas in? how do you remove the gas in the first place? There must be something you can undo to do this.

No they are sealed units. On my old Triumph Daytona 955i, it had a remote reservoir shock but earlier models had a piggy back. Apparently the gas was inserted during manufacture and could not be re charged or removed. This meant that if you dismantle the shock, you lose the gas and have no way of re charging it. Hence why the gents at Race Components told me that my shock was rebuildable, but earlier T595/955i models had non rebuildable shocks. I had also spoken to other suspension people who said the same thing.
