Hi

Know a few others on here use Visordown as well.

What do you think of the new forum software they have switched to.

All the best

I hate it!

I used to love how well laid out visordown was and it all worked perfectly. This new forum looks VERY basic and amatuerish, almost like no effort has gone into putting it together at all.

Shame.

Hi

Didn't think it was that well laid out but it seemed solid and it worked.

So many useful features seem to have gone. Doesn't seem to be an option to go to the last read post on a thread (although one for the end of a thread, unless it has got confused). No list of members. Search is basically very crude and useless. Quotes are pretty unuseable for anything other quoting a complete post.

All the best

Keith

Bleh, it's crappy. All they've done is change it to be in line with the other Magicalia websites. They've got lots of new features at the expense of the forum, which is a bit of a shame really as the forum was what made the site popular.

Don't like it at all. The bar down the left hand side is a pain.

At least they altered the new colour scheme and got rid of the red bars.

It's a shame because VD really is a cracking site, recently I've found myself spending more and more time browsing there as there are very few kids on there.

It will be the same as ever just much less readable.

Don't like it, didn't go on there much really and found it fairly confusing compared to this layout here, maybe as there were less posts to a page there which just bored me, the quality of thread was far superior over there to here as Joe says its mostly adults, though its extremely cliquey! If people think BCF was cliquey they got no idea!

Just looks southern and pink now, and less like a professional forum, looks like a free forum that someone has made.

Shame!

I'd rather stab myself in the eyes with a ball point pen than use the new visordown.

What made me laugh is your dialogue with Abel, Keith. I don't think he's ever heard "The customer is always right".... You can't make a change like that and then argue back at people that don't like it.

So like are we expecting a VD type rush like biker.net in 2004?.

But as said change isn't always for the better the old format of UBG used to be dandy ie go to the make then it goes up incrementally in CC to the bike you are interested in ,

now its sports , learner , etc of which bikes are classed badly and poorly it was the last issue of UBG I ever bought.

I've never been a fan. The general section is... bollocks Confused

Its a very useful site for selling bike bits though, and through visordown I learned about various types of crab, including one that climbs trees and has an organ halfway between a gill and a lung. Useful Thumbs Up

Looks like my work is proving popular Mr. Green

The admins on there will not be happy, 158 downloads and counting in just under 24 hours. They emailed me about stopping posting about this when they where beta testing as they will loose advertising revenue if word gets out. Now they moved to Magalica it's all about advertising and harvesting data to sell.

Fucking hell that looks shit. When I click on a post it always takes me to the newest unread one, and there's no way to view the first post. Looks like a Fisher Price forum.

Its shite. Why shove the for sale section right down the bottom of the front page? That is going to be a sure fire way of reducing its useage....

I don't like it.

I lurk there occasionally and have not easily come to terms with the new appearance. As mentioned, I dislike the way clicking on a thread takes you to the last page. What's that all about? If I haven't read a whole thread, I want to start from the beginning.

I much prefer BCF, but then again, I always have done.

Had a look yesterday, and yep, I agree, looks crap!

I'm annoyed. Been a member there since 2000, but my email address has changed since then. They send a link to your registered email address to allow you to keep yourself registered, but of course I don't get that, so as far as I can see there's no way i can recover my membership.

Hate it.

I'm using standard firefox on a 1280x1024 resolution, and in the forums, the list of actual posts doesn't start until about half way down the page. There is no way that can be considered good web design. I'd hate to think what it looks like in 1024x768 or something.

You only need to look at phpBB or VBulletin to see what a forum should look like. www.digitalspy.co.uk has turned into a massive organisation, but they don't feel the need to make their forums rubbish. They run a pretty standard vBulletin install, and it looks perfect, exactly how a forum should, not caked in shite.

A forum list is not the page for hideous advertising animated gifs either, especially when it makes the table cell size twice the size they would be without them. Hideous! What's going on with the enormous fonts too - raaarrgrgh it's all crap.

The red bars between posts hurt my eyes at night. It's not a very good forum anyway to be honest, as said before it's good for selling/buying a bike, but they don't half speak a lot of bullshit. The general section isn't general bike, its just generally everything.

Daz.

It takes 2 clicks to get it looking like that if you use firefox https://www.thebikersbar.com/articles/general/visordown-firefox-plugin

327 downloads and counting. It's going to piss Magalica's advertisers off, sod em if Magalica plan a turnover of £10m this year
