 |
|
Got stuck in today, been wanting to get going on it all week.
Bought my Bros off a mate a while ago and have'nt been happy with it yet, so today I finally managed to get going.
I realise these mods will seem pretty tame to a lot of you, but for anyone who's not done anything like this before they might prove helpfull in some way or another.
The Bros as it looked when I got it.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/DSCF0960.jpg
And how it's looked for the last couple of months after I bodged on some rental copies using a bit chopped off a f#cked CG top yolk as homemade risers and added a mirror and a few stickers. Certainly better but still not quite right.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/1a.jpg
So, to begin with I stripped all the plastic and other shit off the arse end so I could balance the bits on to get some sort of idea what the end result might look like.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/2.jpg
Once I had a bit of an idea I stripped everything off to access the subframe.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/3.jpg
Then added some bits of steel to strenghten the subframe, just tacked them in place to hold everything together as I have no goggles till tommorow, gonna do a proper job in the morning.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/5.jpg
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/8.jpg
With the subframe braced I hacked off the bit I did'nt want, this will become detatchable the rear rack/seat.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/7.jpg
Looking better already.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/10.jpg
I then balanced the bits on again so I'd know where to cut the mudguard.
https://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/vincentnotts/Bros/11.jpg
and this is it as it looks tonight, I'm liking it much more already, more tommorow.
OK so I had a last minute change of plan, if you're thinking you've seen the rusty chain sissy bar and gaffertape seat before that's because they're off my CB250RS which I had to dismantle recently for various reasons , was'nt going to use them but I held them up and they fitted perfectly and looked great so I figured I'd go for that look again as I loved that style before

You should really have taken off the paint before you tried to weld it. Doesn't look like there's a lot of penetration in the tacks, I hope the rest of the weld isn't like that. |

No mate, its looking ok, just need to get an exhaust like mine
Have some-thing similar happening with a cx in my garage at the moment (just ask mr.z), you must pop over again soon.

And go back to the original clip-ons and put them below the top yoke and drop the forks by 10mm. According to Sickpup and some Yank websites I've read it sharpens the steering even more. |
I fancy the CBR front end but doubt I'd be doing anything like that regarding the front end as I'm skint as hell.
As for the clip ons, they were fitted and dropped by 10mm when I got it, each to their own but I find them way too uncomfy for longer journeys and it's all about comfort for me, that's why they were the first thing to go.

LOL of course I took the paint off, you're right the welding's f#cking awful but like it says that's just because I had no goggles, just a quick bodge so I could get on with the bike. Will be doing a proper job today.

LOL rear view mirrors? yeah that 40mph run was a real adrenalin rush! lol Looking forward to seeing your CX's (hope it's extreme)will have to nip round for a cuppa and a chin wag, been thinking a lot about exhausts and it'll be a toss up between a slash cut and a stainless high angled one off a Trasalp.

They'll all just fit behind the side panels. I could move them easily enough but can't see the point as I'll be fitting home made side panels anyway.

Superb mate, given me some brilliant ideas there.
I like the detatchable rear rack/seat idea - did you have similar on the CB250RS? I want to chop mine but would miss the luggage space for rallies ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS
