Hi all

Can anyone tell me of any motorbike friendly campsites in Dorset? My wife & I want to take a trip down there at the end of August for our anniversary and would appreciate any recommendations of where to stay.

I've never been camping before & my wife has only been camping in the Czech Republic so we'd also like to know roughly how much we should expect to pay per night to camp on site and also what we can expect.

We're going on a GPZ500S with a 38 litre Oxford tank bag & a 45 litre Givi topbox.
We're planning to set off from North West London on monday & return on friday afternoon staying in a few different camp sites depending on how they are. Will we need to get panniers too?
Where would people recommend I strap the tent, think it might slip of the topbox!

Any advice would be great for us camping newbies! Embarassed

Done a few lighting gigs there for the evening entertainment once!

West Bay near Bridport, Dorset.

If you go from Bridport to West Bay on West Bay road(B3157) it's on the right. You can pitch by the river, nice and peaceful.

The facilties are a bit (lot) basic, portacabin with toilets and hot showers, but it's cheap.

The owner lives off site and turns up occasionally to collect pitch fees, he waived our first nights fee as it was raining!

It's about a 5 minute walk to the Sea.

Oh and if you see Hugh Fearnly Whittingwottsit, punch him in the nads.

I'm sure you're after personal recommendations. I live in Dorset but have never camped with my bike as I only learnt this year, however, I've found this if it's of any use.

https://www.bike-stay.com/uk/stay_dorset.html

Looks to be quite helpful, but at first glance they only list one campsite that is bike-friendly and there have go to be lots more.

I hope that you find somewhere and have a lovely time!! Very Happy
