I've been getting conflicting advice on the correct ratio of 2t oil/petrol. Can anyone shed any light on this? Bike is a Gas Gas ec300.
Ta very much

50:1 = 100ml of oil to 5 ltrs of petrol. that,ll be fine if you,re worried do plug chop .

forget to say good quality oil no lawnmower shit.

Might be worth asking on TBM forum, but my gas gas runs on 50:1.

30:1 sounds too rich and will just foul your plugs. Apparently 50: 1 is right for off road, but is still too rich for on road. Apparently.

I'd take an educated guess at 50:1. I usually put 400ml in a 20l jerry can and fill it with unleaded. This is a little bit stronger tha 50:1, but not by much.

Mike

A quick hunt through google seems to suggest a 50:1 mix is needed.

If your using 50:1 it better be a damn good oil. I run the RGV (and every other 2 stroke I've owned)on 30:1 and it dont foul the plugs. It's much kinder to the crank as well. There is no power benefit to be had by running 50:1 either. You should be ok on std jetting as it's a touch on the rich side as std and running it 3% leaner shouldnt bother it but do a plug chop just to be safe which ever ratio you go for.

As a matter of interest the MX and enduro boys run up to a 16:1 ratio !!!!! They have to jet up not just because of the leaning out due to the amount of oil but also because it's actually making the fuel more viscous Shocked

The other thing to remember if running pre mix is to blip the throttle on the down changes as other wise you wont be feeding the engine any oil with the throttle shut unlike with a pump, so if your slowing down from 6th to first its a long time the engine is running without oil!!!! And you know what happens if you run a 2t without oil!

EDIT ..... Shocked ....It's a trialy...Humble pie time....50:1 will be fine. I've got an aprillia climber 280 and yes you can run lower ratios although I still run it on the RGV 30:1 as I've usually got pre mix left over. (that'll teach me to answer posts after I get back from the pub!!!)
