A big lock.

Without one people can still carry/push the bike away. Steering locks don't do much by themselves and can be broken by the road side.

It is very, very easy to hotwire most bikes, so you're only talking a small percentage of people that would be more likely to steal it as is than without an ignition switch.
You can always wire in a hidden switch somewhere.

They're supposed to be pretty decent trail bikes Thumbs Up.

As suggested, not if you put something in to break/ground the circuit.

This is going to be someone that wants to steal a bike, most people that want to steal a bike will know how easy it is to hot wire/break the steering lock.

So, if you have a big chain, whether or not you have a 'normal' key, that will be what stops people stealing it.

I'm not 100% on the KLX, but I thought they were fairly dedicated dirt bikes - if you're not mostly using it on dirt, might be worth considering something else anyway.
