You should be pleased with a speed of 55mph with a 50cc. Mind you, the clock is probably a fair bit out. That's probably all you are going to get without a 70 kit and a gear up kit.

You would possibly lose performance with gear up kit on 50cc. The engine isn't powerful enough to cope with the higher gearing. Sad

That would perhaps give you slightly better acceleration. It would engage the clutch earlier I believe (although I have read that it's the other way round). Possibly worth getting. Get more opinions though because i am not sure about that.

Doesn't it make the bike rev up really highly before setting off like a scalded cat?

That could get annoying quickly.

Save your money and get a 125cc. Riding a scooter will get boring quickly, and those top speeds you quoted are unlikely to be accurate.

Possibly. Like I said, I can't be sure about the clutches.

Pics?

I don't understand the whole "modifird scooter" thing. Why spend so much time, effort and money making someing slow, go a bit faster?

Wouldn't you rather save up your money, so when you turn 17 you can instantly afford to pass your A2 and buy a bigger (an MUCH faster) bike? Confused

YOU! YOUR PIEHOLE!

SHUT IT!

I'm 17 and riding on a CBT. What the fuck else am I meant to ride you muppet. My CBR is totally stock, and will stay that way. For the price of a tarty exhaust or stickier tyres, I could get in quite a few hours of lessons. Infact, that's what I've done! Test on Wednesday. If I pass, then it's a CBR600F for me in a couple of months when i've got the £££ to put down on one.

Post's like yours are the reason i said what I did. People that do the whole "how do i make my 50cc / 125cc faster?" thing make the rest of us on 125's get treated like idiots.

Don't tar me with the same brush as some fucknut who has more money than sense!

I didn't want an ugly bike! Laughing Wth is a flame-proof suit when you need one Laughing

Seriously though, why should every learner ride a CG? I chose a bike that i liked and could afford. I paid £1795 for my bike, which is alot more than i should have spent on a new bike. But hey, hindsight is 20/20. Hell, it was pretty much brand new. 500 miles on the clock, and very very minor damage on the LH side from being dropped.

I don't care if the CG is "the best" learner bike, i got what I wanted, because i am the one that has to ride it.

I want to get a CBR600F, and will have to ride it restricted. I couldn't care if an SV650 is a better bike, i will get what i want, because i am paying for it, and i will be th one riding it.

I've had too much caffiene. Grr.

EDIT: Not wanting to sound like i'm having a go at you mudskipper, far from it... It just winds me up that people have the attitude they do towards 125s and their riders Sad

Oh, and it's kinda hypocritical of you to tell me to get a CG...

i just dont see the point in cbr 125's at all, having a fairing on something that doesnt go fast enough to need it, and will more than likely get cracked when you crap off it.
a crappy 100cc smokey would be a hell of a lot more fun,
but you like your cbr, so that's all that counts Thumbs Up

Meh, there is an advantage to this bike being so "skinny".

If you drop it, the fairings don't touch the floor! Just the bars, mirrors and pegs Very Happy

It's been down twice on the LH side (once by previous owner) and once on the RH side. Not a mark on the fairings. Just bar ends and mirrors.

Not really, I was after a CG when the CBR came up at a good price (in need of some work).

You will never win the CBR125 arguments on BCF, it's easier on the blood pressure to just let the comments roll off your back. Wink Karma
