when i got an x ray done on my hand they said it was too blury to tell whether my thumb was fractured or not. If its fractured how long will it take them to figure it out and call me back in? And if it is fractured will i need a cast? Any one know if i could tell if its fractured or not?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Smack it with a hammer as hard as you can, that way you can be fairly certain it is fractured Thumbs Up

Go to an NHS Trust that can take an X Ray properly.

A static object that is blurry? They should have repeated it if there was any doubt.

If it were fractured then it would have been dealt with there and then or an appointment made to go to fracture clinic Monday. I suspect theres nothing wrong.

If broken they will not do more than strap it. ie immobilise it.
So you will have one girlfriend less for sometime. Embarassed
You may need anti-biotic cover if they still recommend that, but I am not sure.

Stop going 100mph already, these darned x-ray machines can't take it!

On a serious note, when I fractured both thumbs, they said they couldn't tell, but even if they were fractured the treatment was just to strap it up, so they put some of that hard elastoplast stuff to strap them up for 2 days then that was that.

Try doing both then attempting an archery tournement the next day Neutral

Just broken my scapoid which is the same area AFAIK, most pressure surrounding it will be unpleasant and requires a solid cast for 2 weeks, then some lighter cast for a further 4 weeks. During this period starting now dont put any pressure on it or try to support any weight with it(I.E, using it to get up). Rest it us much and best as possible for better recovery. Oh, and get a decent X-Ray done.

Sit still next time. If it was blurry it is because you moved when they were taking the x-ray.

That said, the radiographer should have taken another one if there was blurring on the film.

Do you not get fuzzy X-Ray results when you catch that Munchausen's?

I went privately for an x-ray 4 weeks after leaving hospital with a pain in my wrist.

They x-rayed it and found an 8-way fracture in the joint - the same as if you poke your finger through an iced over pond/puddle.

Go somewhere and get it done properly.
