Just a quickie: how feasible is it to install more powerful headlights on my cub? Is the generator up to it? Will any modifications to the headlight assembly need to be made? At the moment it really doesn't give me much visibility at all, which isn't good as my night vision is cack. Cheers Smile

Clicky

You could mount it around your headlight. Only issue is that it runs off 12v so some modifications could be needed to the resistor.

if you changed your brake/tail lights to leds, it would free up some electrickery
indicaors= 15w
brakelight = 20w
tail light = 15
dash lights= 5w each,
if you did just your brake tail lights and dash lights you'd save your self about 40watts which would be more than enough to upgrade the bulb,
im guessing that you are running the 12v system as aposed to the older 6v system that the old cubs used to run

Thanks, will look into it Smile

More than that issue, the other one is its going to do nothing to improve the headlight beam. Its a tacky fashon statement if fitted to a bike and a waste of money.

As said change the others to LED but don't bother with that as its not going to help in the slightest.

So once I've changed the lights to LED what bulb should I go for to replace the current one in the headlight?

Could I even fit an HID kit? Expensive though, I suspect.

Best option for better lighting but not a cheap fix (although much cheaper than they were). People say the fancy coated bulbs like the vision plus are good but I couldn't see any difference for the extra price.

By fitting the LED's you may find the headlight is brighter as it will be getting more juice to run it.

The simplest answer would be to use LEDS and a higher wattage headlamp bulb. The LED will free up some power to run a bigger bulb.

The next option would involve wiring in a couple of relays so you aren't dropping the voltage over those terrible handle bar switches, but then you're talking about a DIY job, or paying to have the electrics altered. Results might be varied, normally it makes a hell of a diffrence on older bikes. It might not make much difference on such a low powered system though.
