No not those brown wings, but after this I abandoned the wife and child at home for a little fun in the mud.

The beginning of the little adventure didn't look the most exciting, rather just like a mundane farmers lane and was blocked by a bloke in a flat bed so had to wait a while before the camera came out. I'm a whore but not that much that I'd do in the public eye.

The route was around a kilometre long and covered 30 metres in height so uphill to start. The ground was firm and you could see the tyre treads of a car quite evident so in the tyre tracks, out of the tracks in the tracks...and trying to find the best and most stable line was quite hard as the bike would start crabbing along with the front wheel turned yet continuing straight? After a couple of hundred yards the trail started to get a little softer.

The feeling of the wheels squirming from side to side, legs flaying out like stabilisers took a while to get used to and after that its all good!

Was getting used to pulling away in 2nd as not to just bog down and wheel spin and up into 3rd. Maybe 20mph tops in places which was more than fast enough as you're inches from the hedges with no traction whatsoever. With the visor up and then getting a little mud in the eye I had to succumb to having it down and then misting up. I'd slowed down now and good job as this was round the corner.

It was more than deep enough for most off road bikes to get stuck and as the trenches were just shallow enough for me to use the kickstart I'm quite glad that I didn't end up in there.

The finish line!

Going down hill was a little strange as the bike just wants to go and applying the brakes just digs the front wheel in causing me to come off, only once mind so not that bad for a rookie.

As the little knobblies were caked in mud a burn out was the order of the day when I reached the tarmac road again. The bloke walking his dog that was behind me must have thought 'chav'.

Before the hose down.

Not the biggest, baddest and most testosterone packed adventure, but a mini one at that.
