And what set up to get?

Thinking about getting something for the bike, but not sure on what. Last bike had just the immob, but then that bike wasnt anywhere nearly as attractive to scumbags as the new one... do people even bother if they hear an alarm going off these days?

I'm looking for one of those ideal world kits, that will a) stop bike getting nicked, b) not drain the battery c) reduce my insurance and d) not cost an arm and a dick

suggestions??

No alarm suggestions but I've just taken a policy with H&R insurance. My Fazer has been fitted with an Acumen alarm and they want proof that the alarm is fitted and operational. If I don't send proof, my premium is increased by £21.

I always thought alarms would give quite a big discount on an insurance quote, but for a £100+ alarm, the saving isn't that great. For the cost of the alarm [and fitting if required] it may not be worth getting one and spending the money on more chains and locks... Confused

Buy a bike with an alarm already fitted. Doesn't cost you anything extra and you still get slightly cheaper insurance. Wink

Alarms don't stop bikes from being stolen. Alarms just make noise which most people ignore and immobilizers just stop the engine from starting. People who take bikes for parts often carry them off in the back of a van so couldn't care less about an immobilizer.

Buy yourself a big fat chain and the mother of all locks.
