Your opinions about wearing proper bike gear on a 125

The only stuff that looks half decent are the racy sport boots, but would it look stupid riding a 125cc bike? same with, say, a 1 piece leather suit.

What does BCF say about having proper bike gear on a 125 bike? Or does it not matter as safety is key- the more protection, the better?

It doesn,t matter what size of bike you,ve got ,protect your ass!!!
Style of clothing is secondary,tastful can be achieved even if your budget is limited .
I even wear off road gear on my Hornet,then again if people know me ,I don,t give a shit
And yes, road leathers on enduros just to confuse them some more.

You'd be stupid not to, 125's get underestimated alot, granted they ain't power houses but still quick enough to cause substantial damage to skin when you come off down a dual carriageway.

Protect as much as you can with what you can afford.

If you want something that looks half decent, textile jacket, kevlar jeans (Draggin, Hood) and boots (boots must go under jeans) as well as the obvious things like gloves and lid.

Better than landing on your ass in trackie bottoms or normal jeans

I think one would look daft on a motorbike without any proper gear.
It's like unprotected sex.

But there are a few rowdy folks on here who like to ride bareback so to speak and throw caution to the wind.

A friend of mine has rit off one bike dropped, scrapped, scratched and scuppered a few others and lived to ride again same day.

And I didn't mind replacing the worn down to the armour trousers and jacket and gloves. And boots.

Tip for falling off:
Try to not roll about the road. If you are going to wreck some expensive kit, make sure it's jacket or trousers and not both.

Don't worry about what you look like, people seem really worried by this when the reality is that even if they do think you look stupid, they're unlikely to recognise it's you, so it doesn't really matter .

Some people will think you look stupid, but most probably you'll be better protected and will look a lot less stupid after any accident you may have.

What is worth considering is what is practical for you - so you're likely to actually use it.

I met my mate today who,s also an instructor ,he was impressed by my "riding gear".
I,d just finished work and was wearing my chainsaw gear (husqvarna).
I,ve never thought of wearing it on a bike before,it,s warm,comfy and thick padded. If it had some armour it,d be spot on.

My son has proper gear for his 125 when he done CBT the instructor was impressed that he did

As has been said you can still hurt your self if you come off a 125 remember it is not a fashion show it is what is going to protect you that is how I always look at it

Buy the best you can afford and what feels right, comfort is important as well

agreed, safety first for me, i got an NSR hench my name, my top speed is around 80MPH and falling off that with no protection would just be plain stupid. as said before get what safety gear you can afford. dont be to tight tho......

i fell off a mini moto doing like 30mph and because i lowsided (i think thats the right way) i landed straight into my wrist and broke it.

Protect yourself
end of the day,even if people think you look stupid what would you rather look stupid or have skin grafts and lost limbs.
I know what id choose love.

Indeed, try sprinting on the pavement and sliding on your knees. I would certainly imagine that there would be some damage.

Now imagine sliding along the road at 70mph with the extra danger of a sliding bike and other vehicles on the road...

Get yourself some protective gear!

Personally its what you are comfortable in, I ride a 125 and I'll never ride without my helmet gloves boots or jeans. I'll wear a jacket about 95% of the time. Sometimes waterproof trousers if the weathers bad, that's my choice on the matter though.

If anything you look stupid wearing the incorrect gear for a 125 rather than the correct gear which really is the most protective gear.

As much as I tell people to ride with the appropriate gear. Id defend the right to ride without it, after all we are ADULTS we can make our own choices knowing full well the consequences.
