I rode the CB two-up for the first time today - and the handling was dodgy as fuck! Shocked

Admittedly I didn't add air to the rear tyre, but I've taken pillions (of the same weight) on the CBR before without increasing the tyre pressure and not had this effect.

Is this normal or might there be summit up elsewhere on the CB?

Could be mainly down to tyre pressure but then I would imagine the CBR to have stiffer suspension than the CB, therefore the extra weight shouldn't have as much as an effect. Plus I would say that a pillions weight would be more centred with your own on the CBR aiding the balance factor. Whereas on the CB they would be more back on the back wheel and making the front end feel floaty.
