Anyone used these before?
Or can anyone see anything that could be dodgy by using them? Will the battery take it okay? Will be on an 05 Hornet 600

It looks like a great solution to the problem, plus it gives the option of various other devices to be plugged in if I just get the thing that ends as a cigarette lighter socket.
Satnav, phone charging, etc etc

The wire itself would be coiled up under the seat when not in use, i assume that is okay? In use i would have the entry point into the bag as close to the seat as possible without being in the way so as to remove the risk of the wire flapping around and catching on something

Just need to get a tank bag and I would be sorted with it all.

Waiting to hear back off someone that has ordered one, see how theirs is working.
For ~£36 i may take a punt if i dont hear anything

Look awright.
I always think they mark your paintwork though.
Make sure you put something under the thing before putting on the bike.
One of those things that will be either great or you will hate your self for buying it. Razz

You can be the first to test for bcf....

:/ am i missing something or would it not be just as simple to get a bmw accessory plug onto the bike and run it up into the tankbag through the zip :/

What i did with mine..
get the 12v adapter, get a car ciggy plug, put it in there and solder wires onto the - and + these go to your power source (i use the pilot light) the end that goes to the gps you cut in the middle, one you solder to the bmw accessory plug F.. this all goes under wherever you choose to hide it. next you solder the other end of the gps lead onto the male bmw accessory plug end.
So you end up with a plug and lead on the gps and you simply plug it into the accessory port and you have gps power.
You can of course not have the bmw plug and just stuff the adapter cable which works equally well but itsn't so tidy.

Have done it both ways for over a year each and both worked fine.

And the battery will be fine with it, i'd be supprised if it was drawing 5watts. as mentioned mine runs off the pilot lamp so its switched anyhow, its also up the front and easy to get to, and if it did fail its not going to cut anything remotely important.

This is how not to do it. When it rains your PDA becomes an expensive paperweight even though I did have it wrapped in cling film. Embarassed

Don`t forget to add approx 33% to the total cost, this will cover import duty, VAT and parcel carriers handling charges
This you have to pay at this end, after you spend the time and fuel going to collect it

Get one of these https://asp.ram-mount.com/rammount/productdetail.aspx?partnumber=RAM-B-138-AQ1U they come in 3 sizes, power & audio cables run thru the base making it waterproof, and the lens is clear rubber, that allows you to use touch screen controls

Although I don't like GPS I had a thought when I took the brake clutch bracket off my CBR ,

since my NTV wears Hornet bars, you can just put an additional clutch bracket assembly directly onto your bars, and mount a perspex type box which you can get from maplins onto it , with a single hole drilled in can have it as a lock pin.

The last time I used Satnav on the bike was in London just over a year ago. I never bothered to look at the screen, I just left it in the tank bag and used earphones to listen to 'Jane' telling me which way to turn.
