I was wondering how much of a difference a tank bags makes when you are riding? I'm not thinking of one the height of a skyscraper just and A4ish sized one with map holder about 20cm high, hein gericke do one but its not on their site.

All i want to know is will i notice it doing maneuvers, trying to tuck down a bit on motorway runs?

Personally I've not noticed mine getting in the way, but as I ride a Sports Tourer it is a slightly more upright riding position. As I swapped using a topbox for a tankbag I've actually found the extra weight over the front helps reduce weave. The one problem I have experienced though is that if I don't get the yoke strap right it can get in the way on full-lock. I use an Oxford Sports Expanding Tankbag, but I have the previous version without the zip-off bumbag.

Im on an Er6-f so its reasonably uprightish position anyway, i need a map holder so i think i might aswell order the bag, it can be flat or extended so it will do both nicely.

I use an oxford humpback daily on all sorts of conditions and its only ever in the way when its expanded. I can comfortably cruise at 90+ with the bag on although to be fair I've got a fair bit more fairing to hide behind Wink

One thing I will say, if you get an oxford tankbag, check the shape of it very carefully before you hand over your readies, if mine is anything to go by, the build quality is pretty shoddy, mine isn't quite properly square. The bottom left corner is a bit deformed, the bag as a whole simply won't line up straight on its magnetic holder and the main two zip tags lasted all of a week before they fell to bits.

Quality niggles aside its an excellent bag though, just a shame it looks like it was made by british leyland layoffs Sad

Oh and also, just to save making the mistake I did once, be wary of how far forward you mount your bag, I managed to flip my kill switch against the bag doing a u-turn once. Most hairy Laughing

Love my tank bag, it's great.

The tank on my bike is non-existant, so gives me something to lean forwards against, makes long rides ultra-comfy, no wrist or back ache.

As said above, make sure the headstock strap isn't in the way of anything. And if you get a magnetic one (Which hold on very well, but tend to detach in an accident / drop Embarassed ) make sure to check that there is nothing stuck to the bottom before you attach it to the bike! You'd be amazed how much shit sticks to the magnets. My tank is scratched to buggery.

Infact, i once left work with it to find someones keys stuck to it! Laughing

Could also stick it to the side of a filing cabinet and it wouldn't budge Thumbs Up Laughing

I managed 180 (clocks) with an Oxford first time tankbag on, my head wobbled a bit as I could not get right down behind the screen Smile

I use a Givi T440, it sits below the level of the clocks and has no noticable effect on the bike.
It expands, has a see-thru map holder and comes with a waterproof (see-thru) cover. I was quite happy paying £40 for it.
