Hi,

I'm looking at options for my next bike already, so I'd like your opinions on models I should be considering.

Needs to be:-

- Under £500
- Low running costs - fuel, insurance, spares
- Capable of 80-90mph
- Easily restricted to 33bhp
- Reliable
- Easy to work on
- Preferably Jap
- Comfortable to ride and capable of long distances
- Devoid of plastic (I'll only drop it and have to replace it!)

Cheers!

Yeah I was thinking along the lines of a CB500 myself. Not sure about the 750, could easily do the work myself but I'm not sure if the insurance may be quite high for a 19 year old?

Have a check on some of the insurance sites (gocompare, moneysupermarket, confused)
You dont need a number plate to get quotes to see what they are going to cost Thumbs Up

if you can pick up a cheap 250 it probably wont need restricting, 250s will do 80 - 90mph

You bought a spot light, electric fence, bull dogs and a sniper post? havent 2 of your bikes been stolen? I would get some more security whilst gettin a cb500, also CB500's are cheap and cheerful, i wouldnt mind one myself!

I think a lock for the back gate, a big heavy fuck-off chain (or two) and an outside security light will be enough.

Also, this one's having an alarm and immobiliser.

Try an XBR500. Check the local papers. It's a 500cc single. Cheap as chips.

Other than that, just get a local paper (around here it's called Free-ads) and just browse. There'll be bargains.
